GOV AIYEDATIWA INCREASES SUBVENTIONS TO TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS, APPROVES IMPLEMENTATION OF FG/UNIONS AGREEMENT
In furtherance of his administration’s commitment to education and the welfare of workers, the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved two major interventions for all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.
1. 60 Percent Increase in Subventions
Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved an immediate 60 percent increment in the monthly subventions to all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.
This decision is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the institutions to meet their obligations, ensure prompt payment of salaries, and improve the overall learning environment for students and staff.
2. Implementation of FG/Unions Agreement
The Governor has also approved the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Unions of Universities.
This approval covers all relevant state-owned tertiary institutions and is designed to address long-standing welfare issues, boost staff morale, and align the institutions with national standards.
Both approvals take immediate effect from this month.
Speaking on the approvals, Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the management of the affected institutions to ensure judicious use of the increased subvention and to prioritize staff welfare and academic excellence.
He also urged the unions to reciprocate government’s goodwill by maintaining industrial harmony and focusing on delivering quality education to our teeming students.
The Aiyedatiwa administration remains committed to making Ondo State a hub for quality tertiary education and will continue to take bold steps to support our institutions.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has urged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking while receiving the group’s leadership in Akure, the Governor said President Tinubu’s economic reforms are beginning to yield positive results, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and economic policy. He noted that reforms such as exchange rate convergence, the student loan scheme, and major road projects, including the Ibadan-Akure Highway and Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, are repositioning Nigeria’s economy and improving connectivity.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as a vital bridge between the Federal Government and citizens, stressing the need to educate Nigerians on the objectives and benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda while countering misinformation. He also reaffirmed the Ondo State Government’s support for the group and expressed confidence that collaboration with the APC would strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Earlier, the State Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, disclosed that the organisation has recruited 25 ambassadors in every polling unit across Ondo State and is compiling an additional 400 ambassadors per ward to deepen grassroots mobilisation. He also announced plans for youth summits and town hall meetings to promote government policies and gather public feedback.

Gov. Aiyedatiwa Promises More Youth Appointments, Unveils 1,000 Forest Guard Recruitment
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment by announcing the recruitment of 1,000 young people into the Ondo State Forest Guard to strengthen security across the state.
Speaking during a meeting with the Ondo State Youth Parliament, the governor said applicants must be under 39 years old and assured that successful recruits would receive adequate training, protection, and welfare. He urged the Youth Parliament to nominate only responsible individuals for the exercise.
Beyond security, Aiyedatiwa pledged to appoint more young people into government positions, approved the provision of a utility bus for the Youth Parliament, and promised government support for the completion of the Ondo State Youth Policy Document.
He also encouraged youths to remain vigilant and actively support community security by reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing, “Whenever you see something, say something.”
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Henry Omoyofunmi, praised the governor’s youth-focused policies, citing recent employment opportunities in the health sector and other government agencies. Leaders of the Youth Parliament also commended the governor for his continued investment in youth development, inclusive governance, and support for Ondo’s participation in the Nigeria Youth Parliament.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, senior government officials, and local government chairmen.
President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced plans to build Nigeria’s largest industrial and free trade zone at Olokola, Ondo State, with construction expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026.
The project will provide dedicated power, water, gas, and logistics infrastructure to attract manufacturers and remove major business bottlenecks. It will also include investments in power generation, cement production, and gas infrastructure.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa welcomed the investment, describing it as a major step toward Ondo’s industrial transformation. The state government has set up a technical committee to work with Dangote Group and pledged full support for the project, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and boost economic growth across the region.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reiterated Ondo State’s commitment to supporting the reactivation of a dormant oil field that has remained inactive since 1998, during a meeting with executives of Sahara Energy Group in Akure.
The governor emphasized that reviving the asset would boost Ondo’s contribution to Nigeria’s oil production target of 2 million barrels per day and improve the state’s standing among oil-producing states. He stressed the need to address infrastructure deficiencies, curb leakages, modernize equipment, and adopt digital systems to enhance efficiency and transparency in production.
Aiyedatiwa assured investors of a peaceful and business-friendly environment, highlighting ongoing dredging projects and planned interventions to improve access to oil-producing communities and production sites.
Speaking on behalf of Sahara Energy, Kola Adesina described the oil field as a stranded asset with significant untapped potential. He disclosed that the company is carrying out technical assessments and integrity tests to determine the requirements for full reactivation.
Both parties agreed that increased investment, technological innovation, and strong collaboration between government and operators are essential to unlocking the asset’s value, increasing national oil output, and delivering benefits to host communities.

GOV AIYEDATIWA CONGRATULATES FADUYILE ON ONDO SOUTH SENATORIAL BYE-ELECTION VICTORY
Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile on his victory in the just concluded Ondo South Senatorial bye-election, describing the outcome as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in him by the people of the district.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the victory of the former President of the Nigerian Medical Association and distinguished academic underscores the people's belief in his capacity to provide effective representation and advance the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly.
The Governor noted that Professor Faduyile's sterling contributions to medicine, academia, and public service have equipped him for the task ahead, expressing confidence that he would deploy his vast experience and expertise in the service of the people.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ondo State, I warmly congratulate Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile on this well-deserved victory. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has inaugurated a Technical Committee to fast-track the revival of the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ), following renewed commitment by the Dangote Group to develop Nigeria’s largest industrial and free trade hub in Ondo State.
The governor described the move as a major step toward unlocking the state’s coastline for industrialisation, job creation and investment. The committee has been tasked with reviewing legal agreements, resolving land and community issues, engaging key stakeholders, and preparing the project for implementation within six weeks, ahead of Dangote Group’s planned mobilisation.
Chaired by Chief Bode Sunmonu, the committee will coordinate with stakeholders including the Dangote Group, NEPZA, the Ogun State Government and relevant federal agencies to ensure the successful reactivation of the long-abandoned project.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment, while the committee pledged to deliver its assignment transparently and in line with global best practices, positioning Olokola as a catalyst for economic growth and industrial transformation in Ondo State.
