The @isth would not be the same w/out our wonderful & dedicated staff. No one embodies this more than our one-and-only @rcaryclark Dir. Programs & Education. Read his perspective in today's Congress Daily https://t.co/kadwbat65e
Thank you for all you do for ISTH! #isth2024
I know of at least two people that would have gone for a dip and swim up to the bar had we been told by @isth to bring swim wear, right @MaryCushmanMD ? 😆
Excellent talk at @isth Bangkok by @kimpy79 on novel assay to measure TXA levels in plasma! 🇨🇦@TaARI_Canada . Assay is highly specific for TXA and is not influenced by high D-dimer.
Thrombin generation often measured in plasma ▶️ low specificity for thrombin & limited utility in whole blood.
Dai et al designed fluorescence resonance energy quenching–based thrombin sensor (FTS) protein, new point-of-care test⁉️

Whole blood point-of-care ▶️fibrinolytic potential in pts
with sepsis.
Scarlatescu et al demonstrate ROTEM with t-AUCi parameter ▶️ rapid &accurate diagnosis of fibrinolysis resistance vs conventional clot lysis.

@karimbrohi Kim PY, Stewart RJ, Lipson SM, Nesheim ME. The relative kinetics of clotting and lysis provide a biochemical rationale for the correlation between elevated fibrinogen and cardiovascular disease. J Thromb Haemost. 2007 Jun;5(6):1250-6. doi: 10.1111/j.1538-7836.2007.02426.x.
@karimbrohi We showed some time ago that when Fg is high, balance between clotting and lysis shifts to the former based on their individual kinetics ie higher Fg favours faster clot formation while rate of lysis does not change. May be helpful in rationalizing your findings?
Are you planning to participate in the 10th anniversary of #WorldThrombosisDay? @ISTH held the first World Thrombosis Day in 2014. At the time, @GaryRaskob was our campaign chair. Join #WTDay23 this year and current chair @LanaCastellucci by visiting https://t.co/3BzP65NsUt.
