#ALERT: Al-Shabaab Releases Video of Kenyan UN Worker Held in Somalia, Following Earlier Video of Ukrainian UN Pilot
The Kenyan national, who is in Al-Shabaab custody, was serving as a member of an aero-medical evacuation team with the United Nations Mission in Somalia when he was captured in January 2024. He was taken hostage after the UN helicopter he was flying made an emergency landing due to a technical malfunction near Xiindheere District in the Galgaduud region.
In the video, he appeals directly to Kenyan President William Ruto and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, urging them to take steps to secure his release. He also calls on the Kenyan public to show solidarity and advocate for his freedom.
The video was circulated via social media platforms associated with Al-Shabaab militants.
As of now, neither the United Nations nor Kenyan authorities have issued a public statement regarding the video or the status of the captive.
This is Zachariah Kunuthia, a young man who at the tender age of 32, was handpicked by Uhuru Kenyatta from a keg joint and made a CAS for Sports, but acted as Prof. Magoha’s sidekick. During that time, CASs behaved like mini-presidents, even PSs used to salute them like traffic police at a VIP convoy. Now one fine day, this guy decides to visit a learning institution.
He walks in with his afro that looked like a nest that had survived El Niño. The principal of the school that he had visited was away on an official duty in the neighboring school. Kinuthia ordered the Deputy Principal to produce the Principal very fast. You’d think the school had hidden a suspect.
Fifteen minutes later, the poor principal,, a 60-year-old man already rehearsing retirement walks in sweating like he’d been chased by the Subaru killer squad. Before he could even wipe sweat, Kunuthia starts breathing fire like he swallowed a generator.
He insulted the old man in front of teachers, students, and even the school cat! At some point, he shouted, “You’re stupid & useless!” The old man just stood there, wondering if this was education or exorcism.
But you see, God doesn’t slumber,, and He’s definitely not Kamau. The same Zacharia who once flexed power like a DJ at a wedding is now roaming around government offices, trying to outrun that stubborn thing called poverty.
Word has it he’s now chasing votes somewhere in Murima under the Jubilee party wanting to be a senator, still carrying that famous afro, only this time, it’s carrying more stress than style. Ama kweli, maskini akipata matako hupata tabu sana.
Anyway, may Yehova Wanyonyi remember him as he tries to circumnavigate through that thing called poverty through the ballot, but ajue tu ile senator anaeza pata ni Senator Keg, kwanza the black one like his heart.

INVESTIGATION REPORT ON THE DEATH OF IBRAHIM HILAL MWITI
The National Police Service has observed with deep concern the unverified media reports alleging that Ibrahim Hilal Mwiti was abducted before he met his untimely death.
US has since end of WW2 been built on skilled expatriates from Europe, then later from Asia. Now Europe, Germany included wants to revive its stalled economy with skilled Labour from Africa. Kenyans who are not graduate aerospace engineers shouldn’t even think they will be given visas to go to Germany. We can only develop Kenya by welcoming heavy industries investment as Vietnam & Thailand have done. Exporting Kenyans is self-defeatist & own-goal divestment.
Truth be told, Hon. Aden Duale, incoming Minister for Environment, Climate Change & Forestry gave an A* presentation. His understanding of Climate Change Mitigation including carbon credits. & carbon trading which are still novel & esoteric areas is masterful. Climate Change is the future in both technology & economy. It is the new Oil & Gold. Nomination of Duale to this key Ministry is one of the few correct choices the President has made.
I stand at a very unique position regarding the issues facing my country Kenya as we speak.
As a president's daughter, I have no doubt in my mind, watching my father rise in politics for over 30 years, seeing his work and passion behind the scenes, that he truthfully holds the best interests of Kenyans at heart.
As a youth champion, I hear the cry of this generation and give my kudos that we not only care about current affairs, but have a stand and are willing to raise our concerns. This is a gamechanger. Let's do it consistently, in an informed manner, with respect and honour. That is how we will be heard.
May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty.
A way will be made.
