رشید مظاهری، دروازه‌بان پیشین استقلال و فوتبال ایران، توسط نهادهای امنیتی بازداشت و پست انتقادی او علیه خامنه‌ای در اینستاگرام حذف شد. این خبر را مجتبی پوربخش، مجری پیشین برنامه‌های ورزشی صداوسیما، اعلام کرده است.
در پست حذف‌شده، مظاهری نوشته بود: «وارثان شکوه ایران، چطور چشم بر خاک آغشته به خون جگرگوشه‌هایمان ببندیم؟ من فرزند خاکسترم! ریشه‌ام کهن‌تر از تازیانه و اعدام است. زنده ماندنم بدهکار خون «سیاوش‌ها» و شجاعت «گردآفریدها»ست.»
او خطاب به ورزشکاران تأکید کرده بود: «پهلوانی به مدال نیست؛ به ایستادن است. تاریخ یادش می‌ماند چه کسی چون «کاوه‌ها» پیش‌بند چرمین بر سر نیزه کرد و چه کسی بزدلانه سکوت نمود.»
مظاهری در پیامی مستقیم به خامنه‌ای نیز نوشته بود: «بدان که فرماندهی تو بر این خاک ایزدی به پایان رسیده است. تو بر تن‌ها تازیانه زدی، اما شرافت وارثان کوروش و داریوش، فراتر از حقارت خشونت توست. دیوار ترس فرو ریخته و ویرانه‌های استبداد، ایران بزرگ قد عل�� کرده است. ما مسیر نوسازی و اقتدار ایران نوین را از یاد نبرده‌ایم. اراده‌ی این ملت، ریشه در هزاره‌ها دارد و تو تنها فصلی گذرا و تیره هستی. دیگر سر خم نمی‌کنیم!»
