Last week I warned about "billionaires buying up media companies to promote their own warped and distorted views,"

I wasn't talking about Elon Musk, I was talking about Canadian Billionaire James Grenon who is trying to take over the NZ Herald, ZB and NZME.

Genon has supported fringe right wing conspiracy news sites that promote anti-vaccine nonsense, dreadfully anti-Māori and Treaty editorial copy and some deplorable anti-Rainbow community content.

Allowing someone with such a distorted view of the world running one of our largest media networks is a dangerous erosion of the free media we need for a functioning democracy.

In response to my criticism of billionaires taking over our media, James Grenon called me a fool!

He told Stuff, "I think Willie is a fool for talking about things he knows nothing about."

I know a threat to our Democracy when I smell one Mr Billionaire and you reek of privilege and arrogance.

Here's the reason why the Billionaire class are worried in New Zealand, this is todays latest poll from the Taxpayers' Union.

Labour – 34.1%

National – 33.6%

Green - 10.0%

ACT 7.7%

Māori 6.5%

NZ First 5.1%

The Political Right are frightened that they will only get a 1 term Government, that's why they will do anything, including taking over a Newspaper and Talkback station that is already very right wing to try and change the narrative.

The facts are Luxon dropped dramatically in the polls because he allowed his coalition partners to play culture wars.

The principles of the Treaty of Waitangi should never had made it to the first reading or allowed National MP’s to vote in favour of such divisive nation tearing legislation.

Māori citizens are very influential in this country and the Anti-Treaty lobby is not a genuine cause or it’s supporters would organise an actual protest and avoid using anonymous profiles on social media.

His demise as a politician will set a precedence to all future politicians to not mess around with the Treaty because the most powerful special interests group in the country is not farmers it is the Maori nation.
