This amazing website, called "Worse on Purpose," is cataloguing all the ways companies are deliberately and secretively degrading their own products
As usual, in most cases the culprit is private equity extracting enormous sums while everyone else is left worse off.
Cool paper looking at how AIs solve unbounded, complex business problems in many fields by testing how well they can crack the cases we use to teach MBAs in business school:
1) AI already does extremely well across diverse business topics
2) Models are improving rapidly with time
FYI, KALRO has developed 3 new improved indigenous dual-purpose chicken breeds that mature at 4½ months, with cocks reaching approximately 2 kg at 4 months and produce 250–280 eggs/ bird/yr and adapt well to all climatic conditions, including ASAL areas.
80% of honey brands tested in Kenya failed purity tests after they were found to contain additives despite being labelled as "100% Pure and Natural Honey," according to the CAK.

These men terrorised Ol Kalou residents for weeks,
On voting day, they upscaled their terror - they walked with firearms, branding them.
They had firearms, pistols, tear gas, tasers.
They handcuffed people, attacked citizens, voters, and targeted journalists.

Former Central Bank of Kenya Governor, Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, reflects on his fallout with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over Kenya's monetary policy framework.
He makes the interesting case of the twin occurrence of high growth (>7.0%) & high inflation (13.0% - 14.0%) while the Fund's prescription was monetary tightening amidst static velocity of money.

UPDATE: The Revenue Authority is lining up a number of changes to buttress Finance Act 2026's introduction of phased out Income Tax Return filing (see quoted tweet).
The authority says it will:
· Abandon the excel file based filing in favour of a purely web based filing system. So taxpayers won't be downloading
· Expand the scope of the AI-powered virtual assistant, Shuru, for more complex filing
· Upgrade iTax ahead of April 30th, 2027 which will be the debut phase of staggered filing of income tax returns
PS:
· Worth noting the authority says there shall be no Incomes & Expenses Validation for the 2026 year of income, apparently it was only for 2025
· Question, how does this align with the Finance Act 2026 amendment to Sec75 of the Tax Procedures Act?
· If the law provides that the taxpayer has the right to confirm or amend a pre-populated return, doesn't it follow that there shall be a validation exercise accompanying this in the case where an amendment is done?
Had my iPhone 13 snatched on Thika Highway (Ruiru) on Friday morning by a guy on a bike while I was mid-virtual meeting. 🤯
Turned on Lost Mode. Yesterday, I got a ping that it’s been activated… 880km away in Burundi!!

Claude Code just dropped "Getting Started with Loops"
This is their first official document about Loop Engineering.
Spoiler: prompt engineering didn't survive.
Here's the full guide in one post:
1. Turn-based
Every prompt you send already runs as a loop: Claude gathers context, takes action, checks its own work, and repeats until it decides the task is done or realizes it needs your input.
2. Goal-based
You define what "done" looks like with /goal, and Claude keeps iterating toward it. Every time it tries to stop, a separate evaluator model checks your condition - if it's not met, Claude gets sent back to work until the goal is reached or the turn limit hits.
3. Time-based
This is the /loop command: нou set an interval and a prompt fires on schedule. For example, every 5 minutes Claude checks your PR, addresses review comments, and fixes failing CI.
4. Proactive
Here you set up an event once, and the loop triggers itself whenever that event happens - with zero human input.
Anthropic also shared optimization advice - and this part matters most:
- Loop quality depends on system quality.
- Tokens are the real cost
None of this is magic. It's the same familiar parts - /goal, /loop, Skills, Hooks - composed into systems that run without you.
I built exactly that kind of system in my article:
Loop that wakes up at 6 AM, finds work on its own, reviews itself, and leaves ready PRs for you. Step by step, from SKILL(.)md to cron trigger:
Following the amazing reaction to the Marble Curriculum yesterday, we've decided to make it open source 🛰️👇
Everything a child learns in primary school. 1,590 concepts. 3,221 connections across 8 subjects, from Math and Science to Computing and Life Skills. Anchored in the US and UK curriculums, standard by standard (NGSS, Common Core, DfE).
What you will find in the repo: every concept as structured JSON with its age band and the evidence a child must show to master it. Every prerequisite link marked hard or soft, with a written rationale. It's a true DAG you can compute learning paths on. Open license, you can build whatever you want with it.
Now is a unique time in history to be building in education. Getting AI and kids education right is likely one of the hardest and most important problems to crack over the next decade and we need as many smart and creative minds behind it.
We think a common solid basis, accessible to all and that can be built upon, is critical to move fast. That's why we're making this curriculum open source.
It's not perfect but we know it's a robust basis, and we believe that sharing it openly is the fastest way to progress in this field. If you're building in education, share this around you and tell us in comments if you find this useful and if you want to contribute.
We'll keep working and investing on it @withmarbleapp. Credit goes to @guillaume_boni for building this. I just made it look pretty.

What happens when money meant for a country’s future becomes a private piggy bank?
@charityhudini_fa unpacks one of the world’s most infamous financial scandals: Malaysia’s 1MDB Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The fund was created to finance infrastructure, development projects, and long-term prosperity.
Instead, billions of dollars were allegedly misused, enriching a few individuals while ordinary citizens paid the price.
The conversation raises an important question for Kenya:
A sovereign wealth fund is typically built from surplus wealth, but what happens when a country creates one using borrowed money?
Is it still a sovereign wealth fund or does it become a sovereign debt fund?
