Ter Beek has stated that she has struggled with depression, autism, and borderline personality disorder throughout her life.

After doctors informed Ter Beek that there were no additional treatment options available, she made the decision to pursue euthanasia, a legal option in the Netherlands.

Despite having a boyfriend and pets, Ter Beek’s life will voluntarily come to an end in May 2024.
