Happy 626 Day!
This felt like the perfect moment to share a behind-the-scenes look at the illustration and 3D model I created for a Hot Topic–exclusive Stitch collectible statue.
What makes this piece extra special to me is that the artwork is sitting on my Kem Weber animation desk, which was used at Disney Animation Studios Florida during the production of Lilo & Stitch.
Sadly, the collectible never moved forward due to the closure of Diamond Select Toys and Gentle Giant Ltd., but it was an absolute joy bringing Stitch to life through my artwork and collectible design process.
Experiment 626 has always been one of my favorite Disney characters, so getting the chance to work on a piece connected to Stitch, Disney history, and the legacy of traditional animation was incredibly meaningful.

Pokémon x Target Fail
Shortly after the drop, the Orlando stores I visited were completely wiped out of everything: cards, clothing, even Trapper Keepers. Parents bringing kids in later that day hoping to grab Pokémon merch were left disappointed. One kid was there for his birthday, and his dad ended up taking him to the card shop next door, where prices were heavily inflated but on par with reseller markups.
Stores are unintentionally — or intentionally — helping scalpers by putting all Pokémon stock out the moment doors open, creating predictable rushes where resellers clear shelves before most families even arrive. The lack of public information about restocks or release schedules only makes it worse, giving scalpers who track vendor patterns a huge advantage while regular collectors and parents are left guessing.
A more transparent and staggered release system could help products reach actual fans instead of immediately hitting resale sites at 5–10x retail price.
It’s also making it harder for kids to get into Pokémon and Lorcana. Lorcana prices are already climbing even without scalpers, causing some retailers to stop carrying it altogether.
At this point, the retail price of Wilds Unknown is close to what scalpers charge for Pokémon ETBs like Prismatic Evolutions or Ascended Heroes. From both a collector and player perspective, when packs average $10 or more, it starts becoming hard to justify the cost.

@rebekahquests Would love to win or finally buy the D23 set… still kicking myself for passing on it. Right up there with my all-time bad decisions—like not buying the Van Gogh Pikachu… and having “self-control” that day. IG: @kineticforrest (๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑) ºoº
@PokeTCGAlerts I barely got two White Flares. I added them on my phone with Wi-Fi off, then checked out using Edge on my computer. Firefox and Chrome kept hanging, and so did my phone. By the time I got to the cart and checkout, it was sold out.
@AaronMeyers Not sure if this has been answered yet, but this is a retailer incentive copy of Spider-Man #1, given to retailers who preordered a number of copies when it was first released.
