Cause it's hard. I have been writing since 2016 and since then, I have had zero breakthroughs. Nothing.

I'm from a small town in the Free State. I don't have rich friends, don't have rich family members or rich fruitful connections whatsoever. Sometimes one writes a short story and no one reads it. No one, not even those you share it with on social media. Nx.

It gets immensely defeating cause you develop a "what's the point" feeling. The spirit, you want to do this, but you've been doing it for so long with ZERO reward, it kills the spirit.

It's like someone if they went to the gym for a decade and their body remains the same. Don't have money for a clean diet or access state of the art equipment but surely working out that long, there must be some progress. How disheartening when you see there is none

Yes, discipline plays a huge role but honestly, it's suffocating for you are breathing the dust of the arena

But we keep getting up shame cause defeat isn't an option
