Some people back home don’t like that you’re abroad and doing well.
They want you back in the same struggle with them.
So they gaslight you into doing things you shouldn’t be doing not because it helps you, but because it makes them feel better.

Is there anything I am missing Here??
Both actions violate rules. Both are wrong.
Pointing out one wrong doesn’t sanitise the other. Two wrongs don’t cancel; they just highlight inconsistent thinking.
This is why some people avoid certain circles, not because of nationality, but because of the behaviour patterns,
double standards, emotional manipulation, and loud hypocrisy.
Not everyone behaves like this; many people follow the rules and avoid exposing themselves to unnecessary problems and risks.
Anyway, on this Outlier.
It is better to be called ignorant or “ghoster”, than to lose your hard-earned legal status, careers, & credit scores from a massive legal liability.
Mind you, you have far moreee to lose than the person in Nigeria!
Bypassing identity verification (KYC) systems by pretending to be a US/UK/EU resident while operating from abroad is a criminal computer & identity offense. It is not JUST a "civil issue".
Under 18 U.S. Code § 1028) & the UK (under the Fraud Act 2006), it is classified as Fraud by False Representation/Identity Fraud. You’re intentionally deceiving a third party (the company) for financial gain.
It is a crime!
No one is stopping you from doing it, but be fully aware of what you’re doing!

If you’re a student in the Uk and you help someone open an account, just know that you’re jeopardising your VISA.
Also, all the earnings on that account are directly associated with your national insurance number.
So when HRMC says you’re owing one crazy tax amount, I wonder who you’ll explain to that you’re not the one spending the money even though it’s being paid into your account.
