Hi everybody! I've decided to make a new intro, since I'm rebranding this account!
My name is Friso (he/him), I'm a young writer from the Netherlands and I'll mostly be tweeting about reading/writing. I'd love to be moots :)

More about me β¬οΈ
Y'know, the best part of the latest #NaNoWriMo fiasco is we've now got writing apps coming out left and right *against* GenAI!
Don't know what took them so long but this was definitely the right moment to do so.
I submitted my manuscript to a publisher*! Now I just need to wait for a few months... Very excited and very nervous, wish me luck! π¬π€
(*Slight disclaimer: the Dutch publishing industry isn't necessarily the same as elsewhere, which is why I didn't submit it to an agent.)
@johngreen I read this and thought "huh, I didn't know Looking for Alaska was so much older than me".
Then I realised I will also be twenty years old, less than a year from now.
I just discovered that one of my poems is now part of a lesson plan? Not only that, but all the other poems are by actual, well-known, published poets? How did this even happen?
I wonder if any students actually ended up reading my poem...
@king_reinhardt I'm 19 and had to google it π the equivalent in my own language did ring a bell though, so I might've been able to guess it based on the context
@StoniAstley No. I just thought of some of the politicians in my country that I despise the most. I definitely wouldn't want to be associated with them. On top of that, my work has a message of tolerance and democracy, and that's not reconcilable with their politics.
what's insane to me is we are seeing, in live time, the loss of writing skills creative skills, research skills, the list goes on
and so many people are just... okay with that? and actively sabotage themselves?
@alliewithbooks Every single adult in the play fails them. A lot of deaths could've been prevented if the adults in the story had looked out for Romeo and Juliet instead of pursuing on their own interests first.
@Jessica_Locke_ I'll never use it. Writing is my passion, I'm not gonna call myself a writer without actually writing. AI is plagiarism and it has a huge negative environmental impact.
@KT_Carlisle I don't think it needs to have a life lesson, but I think a good book should explore some themes and ask questions about those themes. It doesn't necessarily need to provide answers to those questions; you can leave that up to the reader.
@mirna0722 Ravian would love to trade lives with his little sister, Fiona. He misses the feeling of having an older sibling who watches over him and tries to protect his innocence.
@justin_author Ravian's father is the king, which he discovers when he's 16. They have a very strained relationship, which sours when Ravian starts harbouring anti-royalist sentiments...
@iconawrites Agreed! I spend one day a week outside with the Scouts, barely checking my phone all day, and it's so good for my (mental and physical) health to have a hobby where I do something with my hands, without a screen or social media. I'm so glad to have that :)
