I held a fruitful consultative meeting with officials of Germany’s lead agency for international sustainable development cooperation, GIZ.

The meeting focused on how GIZ can collaborate with the Kenyan Government and the European Union to co-host a summit later in the year aimed at driving an inclusive, sustainable blue economy.

The summit is geared towards convening senior government officials and technical experts to advance integrated ocean governance across the Western Indian Ocean Region.

In attendance were German Deputy Ambassador Alexander Fierley @GermanyinKenya, Development Cooperation Head Daniel Günther, GIZ’s Western Indian Ocean Governance Initiative (WIOGI) Project Manager Thorsten Huber and WIOGI Maritime Advisor Sabrina Mkare Jefwa.
