« Ousmane Sonko must and will be freed » - I spoke this morning with @bbcworldservice about the unfolding events in Senegal and the conclusion is very clear:

we’re witnessing the dawn of a regime and of a geopolitical era.

Macky Sall, abandoned by all, including the United States, will have to back off.

France, his last ally, which has tried to maintain at all costs its influence over Sénégal, has decimated its reputation in these last days, which have brought to the arrest of 200 citizens in less than 48 hours, including MP's and a former Prime Minister of... Macky Sall.

The interventionism of France's new prime minister Gabriel Attal in the Senegalese electoral process has been the triggering factor of the current crisis. But "la françafrique" and its mechanisms of corruption of local elites have been the structural reason behind the current developpements. The insistance of the Elyseum to "save" Macky Sall and impose its candidate could only bring to this situation.

The people of Senegal have had it.

More than 1000 political prisonners rot in prison and impunity has been sytemic.

The reestablishment of the electoral calendar, the liberation of Ousmane Sonko and of all political prisoners and the departure of Macky Sall have become unconditional requirements to the resolution of the crisis and the restauration of Senegalese sovereignty.

We will stand by Ousmane Sonko until it happens.
