@JohnMayer's new tracks are quickly becoming the soundtrack for my summer. Perfectly captures coming out of lockdown and feeling uncertain and melancholy, but ready to cut loose and be with people again. Can't wait for the rest of the album.
If you’re ever feeling down about a paper getting rejected, just remember Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins’ paper on #COVID19 vaccine development got desk-rejected in April 2020. It happens to *everyone*:
The 4 new @JohnMayer tracks are awesome! Can’t wait for the whole album to drop. Also have to say I liked @maryspender’s version of Last Train Home just as much as the released version.
The fact that Microsoft says this was an accident doesn’t change the fact that Beijing is extending their control outside of their territory with the assistance of US tech cos. See the 2020 HK Security Law which they say applies to everyone everywhere.
Can we stop using the term moderate to describe politicians like Manchin? When one side says obstruction is their entire agenda and moves towards authoritarian politics, insistence on bipartisanship is its own form of extremism.
EXCLUSIVE: Hong Kong police detain democracy leader on Tiananmen anniversary.
@AFP video of Hong Kong police detaining prominent activist Chow Hang-tung, with authorities determined to prevent any protests on the anniversary of Beijing's deadly Tiananmen crackdown
I have this sick feeling we’re going to look back and find that we missed the chance to stop our descent into authoritarianism when they decided the filibuster was more important than passing HR1 or a 1/6 commission. https://t.co/znweEl4ViK

"We’re just a bunch of humans with doubts and confusion. We do the best we can. And the best thing we can do is treat each other better, because we’re all we got," said Barack Obama in an interview with @ezraklein.

@Jared_Carrabis @KirkClub @VisionlessDave Not believing people is what cheapens their battle. A huge part of struggling with mental health is often thinking you’re a piece of shit because you can’t get it together on your own. All this does is reinforce that thinking and keep people from seeking help
Quick question; is it For f*cks sake, or For f*ck sake? I’m sending an email to Dublin City Council and I want to make sure it’s grammatically correct #OutdoorSummer#SouthWilliamStreet
I guess political science is the field for me. I just turned off my music and my first thought was to put on something less depressing - like a podcast about the history of the Netanyahu family’s role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. #behindthebastards
@brhodes Maybe not so much. The filibuster has always been a check on purely majoritarian democracy. May have served a function when both sides argue in good faith, but when one side uses it to escape accountability and protect a cult of a personality, it’s outlived any usefulness it had.
The vaccination programme is now making great headway. Over 1M done in May, 2.7M in total. 50% of adult population had a dose 1 & close to 20% dose 2. Reduced illness, sickness, mortality & a massive take up. The team below in Carrick on Shannon, playing their part now. @HSELive
