Happy birthday to illustrious and distinguished Nigerians.
A highlight of my weekend was attending the special birthday celebrations of two distinguished Nigerians whose lives continue to reflect service, leadership, and nation-building.
The first was His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe (Agbogidi), CFR, the Obi of Onitsha and Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University. He is a respected symbol of cultural heritage, enterprise, and traditional leadership, who marked his 85th birthday. I worked closely with him in my eight years as Governor, where he showed a passion for good governance. His life and reign continue to represent dignity, continuity, and the preservation of our rich cultural identity.
Also celebrated was Chief Yomi Edu, former Minister of the Federal Republic, who turned 80. His years of public service and contributions to the corporate world and national development were duly honoured by family, friends, and well-wishers.
The occasion was further graced by eminent personalities, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Ghana, the Governor of Lagos State, captains of industry, former governors, and other distinguished guests from across Nigeria and Africa at large. It was a gathering that reflected deep respect across political, cultural, and generational lines.
Moments like this remind us of the value of longevity, service, and the importance of celebrating those who have contributed in various ways to the growth of our nation and continent.
We continue to pray that God grants them good health, strength, and many more fruitful years ahead. -PO
I would have sworn that the images of the APC Chairman wearing an @inecnigeria observer jacket in Ekiti were AI-generated, until I found them on his own Facebook page. They’re still up.
Observer status grants unrestricted movement on Election Day. Surely INEC can see why authorizing the free movement of hyper-partisan actors during an election is a dangerous idea.
INEC continues, almost deliberately, to undermine public confidence in its ability to conduct a free and fair election. With every passing day and every decision, Prof. Amupitan deepens the doubt over his fitness to lead it.
INEC and Amupitan realy wat to burn down the country.
Let it be known that when the termite-infested firewood they're currently gathering finally attracts the lizards to a feast, Tinubu will not save them because he'll be focused on saving himself first
I’m just glad people are posting videos of the eyesore that these incompetent bastards have made of Lagos. So it won’t be that anybody is denigrating the state. All of us are seeing and feeling the filth.
This is what frustrates me about public discourse in Nigeria and exactly why so many problems never get solved. The conversation started with a public issue and ended with tribal mudslinging.
What makes this even worse is that this is coming from a public official. You are not some anonymous account looking for engagement. You hold public office, you are paid by taxpayers. Your responsibility is to answer concerns with facts, policies, explanations, and solutions. The moment you abandon that responsibility and resort to ethnic or tribal attacks, you have already lost the argument.
If a citizen raises a valid concern, address it regardless of who raises the concern or what political affiliation that person may have. If they are wrong, correct them with facts. If there is a solution, explain it. If there is a failure, acknowledge it. But dragging public discourse into tribal warfare will always be a disgrace to the office you hold.
Lagos is dirty, stinking and smelling.
But a Commissioner is using bigotry to mask his failures and you people are defending him.
.
Impact is felt, not explained. As far as I still have to cover my nose and/or hold my breath on the streets of Lagos shows that Wahab has failed.
I didn't wash my hand after this meeting, because I shared Microphone with Peter Obi.
Happy Father's Day to A man (PO) who puts humanity first. And to other responsible fathers who don't steal to feed their families. Who don't support bad governance because they want to provide for their family.
May our good Lord increase our greatness and comfort us on every side. God bless keep you and family in Jesus name! Amen and Amen 🙏.
May we see New Nigeria 🇳🇬...
This is one of the reasons why Ambode was booted out of office because he was fighting the cabal that got the contract for the evacuation of waste in Lagos state. You guys left competent people and decide to reward party loyalist with the task of evacuating waste and by so doing you can't complain when they are not doing there jobs. Almost all government officials in Lagos got the job all because they are APC members not because they are good for the job but they were employed to do. Padi Padi government na him una dey run.
Lagos didn’t start to generate 13k tonnes of waste this week, this month or even this year bro.
You’re just incompetent and giving excuses since.
If you can’t do your job, just resign let someone that can handle it do it.
No stress yourself again
Governor Sir,
This was you in 2018 when you were campaigning to be governor. Were you lying?
If you recall, the H of your THEMES agenda for Lagos was hinged on Health & Environment. You even said to ensure health, the environment must be clean.
7 years Later, you have failed at your job. It is very disingenuous to start scaling up waste evacuation less than a year to the end of your tenure. Something you didn’t do in 7 years. I think at this point, you’re taking Lagos residents for a ride and it is very disrespectful.
