President John Dramani Mahama has granted presidential pardon to 863 convicted persons in commemoration of Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary.

The pardon includes 819 first-time offenders, 13 persons aged 70 and above, six seriously ill inmates and two others granted special release. Eleven death sentences have also been commuted to life imprisonment, while six life sentences have been reduced to 20-year terms.
