@briannafrost@PatNov1@allenanalysis Well before Europeans settled here, there were ppl here with their own language. So “native” is highly debatable. Perhaps ask the “Native” Americans what America’s “Native” tongue is. Further English is named after England and is derived from German dialect.
@briannafrost@PatNov1@allenanalysis It’s your native language. It’s derived from Germany and carried over from England. Looks like it was recently codified so I take back my earlier comment. Most of America’s history there hasn’t been a recognized codified language. The intent was for America to be a melting pot.
@PatNov1@allenanalysis Because America doesn’t have an official language and has many Spanish speakers. Hence why there is often a prompt to press 2 if you speak Spanish.
