MGS1 was released in 1998. When I mentioned "anti-nuclear and anti-war" in an interview, the media laughed at me. I was ridiculed by my peers and by the company.

In the first episode of HideoTube, towards the very end, director Kojima spoke about his new IP, "PHYSINT" (working title), and his personal experiences that led to his decision to make it.
He was ACTUALLY asked directly if this was a new Metal Gear game?!?!?! He said, "We are going to make a new action-espionage game in cooperation with Sony. It will be both a game and a movie at the same time. That's why we were at Sony Pictures. Of course, it will be a game. However, if your mother walks in and sees you playing this game, she will think you're watching a movie. I'm not sure how far we can take it yet."
He then went on to talk about how, in the last eight years, every day on social media, from users around the world, people have been asking me to create another metal gear and stuff like that. He said in 2020 he fell ill during the pandemic and was sick and isolated; he even had surgery! He was at his lowest. He thought, "I can't anymore." He wasn't sure he could make games anymore, so much so that he also wrote a will. He came to terms with knowing people die. He said, though, knowing he turns 70 in ten years, that he hopes to never retire. Having said that, if the users desire it so much, "I thought I should change my priorities a bit. I still want to do new things, but I decided to make an action-espionage game."
He said he gets lots of offers from Hollywood to direct films but turns them down for lack of time and how it would pull him away from his company. I think the reason he ties so much to saying that his games will be like movies as of recent is because of words from del Toro saying, "Hideo, what you're making is already a movie. Keep going as you are." "His words saved me.".

Seeing a lot of these "How would you rate the Metal Gear Solid games?". with some very interesting scores from people. How would you rate each/any game in the series from 0-10? 🧐

Words from Kojima back in 2010. For many years he wanted to work on other things besides MGS & have someone else take the helm. He never could get away from MGS until he left the company. Keep this in mind when berating me or others in the comments section with what you think Kojima would think or do.

Now, I can honestly say that I am happy that even after 24 years, people are still talking about it. Game creation is like popular entertainment. It fades away with the times. The times move fast, but technology is advancing so rapidly that it becomes obsolete in a few years.
The first Metal Gear I was 24, Snatcher I was 26, Metal Gear 2 I was 27, Policenauts I was 30, MGS1 I was 35, MGS2 I was 38, Bokutai I was 39, MGS3 I was 41, MGS4 I was 45, MGSPW I was 46, MGSGZ I was 50, MGSV I was 52, and the post-independent Death Stranding I was 56.
