The controversy stems from the 2025 AFCON Final between Senegal and Morocco. During the match, Senegal staged a walk-off protest that lasted nearly 20 minutes after a controversial VAR decision. While they eventually returned and won the game on the pitch, Morocco filed a formal appeal to CAF.

The Legal Argument:
Morocco is arguing that under CAF Articles 82 and 84, any team that refuses to play or leaves the pitch during a match should automatically forfeit the game. If CAF strictly applies this rule, the match result could be overturned to a 3-0 loss for Senegal, despite them physically winning the trophy.

The Current Tension:
CAF originally only issued fines and a suspension for the coach, but the case was moved to an Appeals Committee. The report today suggests that the committee has now approved the forfeit rule, which Senegal believes is a politically motivated move to strip them of their title months after the tournament ended.
