It's not that game development is "harder" than it was at any other point.

The industry boomed and now makes more money than Hollywood so naturally companies get greedy and make stupid ass decisions

Anytime I hear people say "game development is harder nowadays" it usually feels like a deflection of criticism and an affirmation that I should always expect less as time goes on.

They didn't seem to have any problems making a scoreboard or functional custom games in 2004
