When I was younger many times my attempts to be sincerely nice or helpful to people backfired and caused me far more suffering. Sometimes it feels like the old saying "good deeds never go unpunished" is true. I am far more careful nowadays about offering help.
If you had to deal with childhood trauma in your family of origin, it is extremely helpful to understand the "Victim-Perpetrator-Rescuer" dynamic, which is present in most dysfunctional families. Often children are "pushed" into one of those roles. https://t.co/OT3bJDG0nb
Let's not forget the other pandemic-untreated chronic pain. A friend recently committed suicide because of the intense pain from a disease. She couldn't get enough pain medication. Her MD lectured about addiction! Addiction vs pain & death? That's malpractice in my view. Horrid.
