This is actually a major problem and no serious politician seems to mention it. Literally every single retail and fast food establishment is staffed by Indians on visas. You cannot solve the Youth unemployment crisis without addressing this, they cant even get a foot in the door.
God actively & intentionally designed the moral order of the cosmos, just as He established its physical laws. If someone steps off a cliff, gravity ensures that he falls; likewise, God has constituted reality such that sin only naturally and justly tends toward corruption, ruin, and death.
For that reason, it cannot be said in an absolute sense that God does not arrange punishment. Even when punishment comes about through the natural consequences of sin, those consequences operate within the very order established by God Himself: an order which He may restrain, suspend, or permit to take its due course.
This insane fixation on Iran is a greater threat to the U.S. than Iran itself is. Iran has no nuclear weapon, was not trying to get one (according to our own intelligence agencies), couldn’t reach the U.S. homeland with it even if they did have one, and wouldn’t try to do so even if they could reach us (since this would be against their interests given that the harm this would inflict on us, while great, would still be limited, whereas Iran would face complete destruction in retaliation). By contrast, the war is costing us billions, is massively depleting U.S. munitions stockpiles, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is inflicting enormous economic damage on the U.S. and world economies, with the damage increasing with every day the war continues. The only fools bigger than the one who initiated this war are the ones who continue to cheer him on, and the ones in Congress who even now refuse to use their war and spending powers to stop him.
Refuting @paulogia0 's claim, "Mark our earliest gospel is in the judgment of most critical scholars, almost wholly Pauline in its theology, specifically Jesus as the suffering son of God who gave his life as an atonement... Everything Mark knows he gets from Paul."
If Mark were a Greek fiction invented by a Hellenistic disciple of Paul, it would read like natural Greek. It does not. Maurice Casey demonstrates that Mark's text is filled with grammatically AWKWARD literal translations and bilingual "interference" from primitive ARAMAIC sources. For instance, the request of James and John (Mark 10:35) is "especially improbable" as an original Greek invention, but makes perfect sense as a literal translation of idiomatic Aramaic (Aramaic Sources of Mark's Gospel, Maurice Casey, p. 199).
A Gentile writing a "Pauline" fiction in Rome decades later wouldn't casually embed obscure, unstated Palestinian agricultural laws. Yet, the Sabbath controversy (Mark 2:23) relies entirely on the unspoken Jewish law of Peah (leaving field corners for the poor). The narrative makes perfect sense only if we apply strictly 1st-century Palestinian orthodox assumptions (Aramaic Sources of Mark's Gospel, Maurice Casey, p. 141).
Paulogia claims Mark got his atonement theology from Paul. But the absolute central pillar of Markan Christology & atonement (Mark 10:45) is built around the title "SON OF MAN" (Aramaic: bar enasha) and the concept of ransom (lytron). It is a notorious fact that Paul NEVER uses these terms! (Aramaic Sources of Mark's Gospel, Maurice Casey, p. 209).
If Mark truly got "everything he knows" from Paul, why is the most frequent and central Christological title used by Jesus in Mark completely absent from the entire Pauline corpus? Claiming Mark is merely a Pauline mouthpiece is historically and textually bankrupt. Mark relies on independent, early Aramaic traditions.
It's genuinely crazy how unspiritual Muhammad's view of paradise was. It's such a sordid, undignified, and materialistic view on what the afterlife will look like. It seems too absurd to believe, and too obviously geared towards slaking the lusts of 7th century tribesmen.
There is a funny paradox in this pagan argument. On the one hand, contra Marcionites on here, they are entirely correct that Christianity is the fulfillment of prophecies about how the Jewish messiah will one day rule over the Gentiles and destroy idolatry. On the other hand, Christianity is so thoroughly hated by Jews that the idea this is a 2,000 year plot to take over the world by Jews is absurd.
The only solution to this paradox is that Christianity is true and did actually fulfill all these ancient prophecies, to the shame of both Gentile idolators and Jewish rejectors of Jesus.
This is St. Augustine’s whole point on the preservation of the Jews. Our very enemies bear witness to the truth of the Catholic faith.
That the first step in attaining what you desire is detachment from all things.
Through God are all things possible (Mt. 19:26). The fact that you cling, and inordinately cling, to this or that, and do not abandon your will to God's will is why you fail.
Jesus had an accent. people forget this or just don’t pay attention enough but He was a Nazarene carrying the northern Aramaic dialect, and that accent immediately marked Him as a Galilean peasant.
that’s why when Peter tried denying he knew Jesus, people recognized him almost instantly just by the way he spoke:
“Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.” — Matthew 26:73
which is fascinating because it means even the Son of God sounded provincial to the empire.
just thinking about this because so many people feel embarrassed or less intelligent for having an accent while speaking, when historically accents were one of the clearest markers of where you came from, who your people were, what region shaped you etc and even Jesus carried that.
Sadly, the Socinian denial that God needed to be reconciled to man through Christ's propitiatory sacrifice is alive and well in modern Christianity (across denominations).
