Some of us with severely disabling illnesses have survived much, much longer. I and others I know have gone through long periods where we could not tolerate human presence/touch/speech, for months or years on end. It is a specific kind of torture most people will, luckily, never know. #mecfs
I've been denied healthcare because I'm trans.
Not "trans healthcare." ANY healthcare.
I can tell a doctor all of my issues EXCEPT being trans, everything is fine. I bring up I'm trans, I'm politely asked to leave.
It commonly takes 15-20 years for efficacious interventions to translate into accepted practice. That's with relatively non-controversial interventions. It may well take much longer, given the death anxiety, guilt, trauma, and denialism around COVlD.
It is simply inconceivable to me that a significant portion of the population wakes up every morning and chooses to use the Akinator That Makes You Stupid to write their wedding vows, dissertations, tax forms, eulogies etc
All the nonsense communicated about masks and respirators throughout the Covid pandemic (yes, still now) is going to be our undoing.
Viruses that could potentially be contained, can't be if we continue to deny which masks work for respiratory protection and which don't.

so fascinating to me how society treats being sick (especially long-term) as some sort of moral failure, but spreading sickness to other people isn't. not enough to actually stop doing it, at least.
SARS-CoV-2's broader biological effects(vascular, neurological, immune, etc...) are some of the most documented concepts in the history of science and medicine and, yet, the most thoroughly denied. What a horrific time to be alive.
@Romy_Holland@wonderartsy The concept of drug-seeking is fascinating to me bc I’m like yes. I come to the doctor seeking medication. This is literally the place you’re sposd to go to get them safely. I’ve already tried water, food, exercise, if I’m here I probably want medical interventions and drugs
I was in a customer forward industry for over 30 years. If I ever was as dismissive, condescending, and incurious as many doctors are, I would be told to GTFO and never come back.
the last neurologist I saw told me there was nothing physically wrong with me and I have unhealed trauma I need to work through and then months later I was diagnosed with a brain tumor
@chthonicsalt@trashdollll (5) I shut that shit down so fast. Girl you are my doctor. I’m here because I can’t brush my hair without my hand seizing in pain and you let that man grab me twice by the hand without a word.
I left without a diagnose or even painkillers
covid is like if everyone u know was in a house fire 3-6 yrs ago, and it stressed them out so much that they begin unplugging smoke detectors and throwing away fire extinguishers so they don't have to think about it. and if when their house catches fire again, they just ignore it
“If Covid is quietly accelerating cognitive aging… in working-age adults, the consequences will ripple through workplaces & health systems for years.”
“The incidence & prevalence of Alzheimer’s is going to just escalate,” he says. “It’s a huge public-health problem.” #LongCovid
