A 45-year-old woman was reportedly shot dead at the GSU Mess compound within the State Lodge area of Naiberi, Ainamoi Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, on Sunday evening.

The incident reportedly followed an altercation between the woman and a police constable.

The officer allegedly shot the woman before fleeing the scene, prompting a manhunt.

Police officers who processed the scene recovered seven spent 9mm cartridges, a pistol holster and a Toyota Corolla 110, which have been secured as exhibits as investigations continue.

The deceased's body was moved to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Regional and international airlines continue to cancel flights to Nairobi as an aviation workers' strike entered day two on Monday.

Regional airline SafariLink issued a Travel Advisory on Monday, also saying that due to Air Traffic Control operational challenges, afternoon and evening flights from Kisumu to Entebbe have been disrupted.

Similar notices have been issued by Skyward Airlines and Kenya Airways, as the Kenya Aviation Authority called on passengers travelling through JKIA to confirm their flight status directly with their respective airlines before travelling to the airport.
