@KodyDuncanPGH As u watch playoffs - its clear that manager decisions of pitching changes / pinch hittinare just crucial. I think the pirates have the arms to succeed, but do you trust Kelly to push the right button? The playoffs aren’t “u get the 7th, u get the 8th, and u get the 9th”.
@josh_eyraud@UnderdogMLB Contreras should be front of base with arm stretching 4-6 feet forward. Hes back of base with no arm extension. Hes out easy. Bunt crash shaky also. Awful throw by Rutschman. Offense sells tickets. Defense wins (or loses) games
@michaelFhurley Rafaela has 2 hits in the last 27 days. Blackburn comes in and can’t throw strikes. Rafaela then swings at ball 3. And ball 4. Then hits into a DP. Losing baseball.
@JMackey_PGH I just don’t get Kelly. Sisk has allowed 60% of inherited runners to score. League average 33%. Sisk wasn’t good enough to be on the roster until earlier this week. He threw 25 pitches last night. Not one time this year had he thrown that many and come back the next day
@colin_beazley With 0 to play for, Brewers manager benches his best hitter for not hustling. With 0 to play for, Pirates manager is laughing in dugout popping seeds watching his team play defense like a 10u team. Mil - winning culture. Nothing changes til the expectations and culture do.
@nickygsmustache And neither is Flores. Any plan that has him catching more than 35-40% of games next year isn’t gonna work. Everyone loves offense. Defense and managerial bullpen choices ruined this season.
@KillaCam0531 People will blame Skenes. Cherington. Ozuna. But with a different manager, the players would have been put in better spots to succeed. And not lose mind numbing games on 10-12 occasions. The injuries hurt big time. But with a better guy managing. This is a playoff team.
@JMackey_PGH I give the guy huge credit for taking the ball every start. Tie game. Meaningless game. Sparse crowd. He’s sprinting out to the mound to start the 7th inning. Not many aces would do that. No it wasn’t a Cy Young season, but it was far better than many dramatize it to be.
@WaymooMoody Endy and Flores each throw out less than 16% of base stealers. That’s a toxic number. Davis is first in baseball at 45%. His offense is frustrating. But u can’t make the playoffs with two catchers who can’t throw anyone out.
@CellarOfKeller@Wins_Williams@spncrmrtn And if u keep him u have to increase his tender which is already starting at $6.1 mil. You DFA him and then go resign him for less if u want. No reason to “keep him for the winter” and pay a 3rd set up man $7 mill. U don’t have that kind of money.
@Mikey5Aces 3.79 ERA. 4 holds. 1 loss/BS
We had a lot worse than that in high leverage in June and July. Was worth a shot. You gave up nothing. Yankees ate $$. And ur DFA cause ur not gonna pick up a $7 mill number to keep him.
@TheSkippersView McLean ERA is up over a run from what he did last year including 4.24 in September. Cert not as big a drop off as Webb and Skenes. But not exactly killing it
@NoahW_25 I know u watch, u can’t honestly say those guys (esp Santana) should have been removed from high leverage sooner. He was taking losses into July with ERA of 6. Yohan lights out from June on. Sant and Matt started fine, but got way too long a leash for guys with no pedigree.
@sdricky760@JaredLankes Good enough to miss the playoffs with horrendous coaching and numerous injuries. Correct. Look at the talent on Milwaukee. Pirates have better roster top to bottom. Just zero coaching and fundamentals.
