I popped it in and found this photo.

It isn’t perfect.
The light is off. The focus is soft.
Still, it stopped me.

A reminder of how beautiful she is.
And how much strength she brings to the madness I call momentum.

I don’t share my photography enough.
And I rarely stop to say how grateful I am for her support.
For the way she shows up without needing attention.
For being the reason this whole thing stays grounded.

Here’s to the quiet ones.
The ones who never ask to be seen,
even though they’re the reason everything stands.

Today started with a drive to Lambert Field from my uncle’s place in South St. Louis County.

Flight to Charlotte.

Then Orlando.

And a car ride home.

Life is Messy

Today’s the anniversary of my father’s death.
It’s also the anniversary of my friend’s wedding.

One of the worst days of my life.
And one of the best days of his.
Same date. Same world. Different realities.

And I showed up for my buddy. Because that’s what my father would’ve done.

He was a man of unshakable character.
Taught me never to compromise on that.
He hugged me. Told me he loved me.
That moment is burned into my brain.

Now I do my best to carry the weight.
To take care of my mother.
To live with grief and gratitude in the same breath.

Sometimes I sit in the presence of my uncle who looks so much like him, and it guts me.
Because it’s not him.
And the absence hits harder in the resemblance.

And I was loved. Deeply.
And that love shaped me.

So yeah, life is messy.
Joy and pain. Weddings and funerals.
Tears and strength.
Grief and legacy.

And love?
Love leaves a mark.
And I carry his.
