The visuals show enormous damage to roads, bridges, infrastructure and houses which will take months to repair. What we saw today was not unprecedented rainfall. It was just 15 cms or so of rain and even less than that in many places, over a 12 hour period. Yet, it almost brought the city to its knees. There have been more than a few days in the past years when we have had 20 cms rain in a single day. Stop blaming climate change for what is just poor governance for decades.
As a child every time it rained heavily,power would go and we would light candles and try to sleep thru the night fending off mosquitoes. 4 decades later we are still in the same place. I have an inverter but that too lasts only for a few hours. Back to lighting candles today. Btw: For the same number of units I am paying double the amount as Electricity bill over the last two years.
No wonder the next generation that wants a better life says that is not going to happen in India anytime soon. #ChennaiRains2024

Please follow basic precautions !

1.Avoid frozen meat for next few days(Power was not there in many places for more than 24 hours-chances of getting rotten is more)
2. Boil the water and drink(if you don't use RO/UV)
3. Eat fresh and cooked foods
4. Clean your house(flood-affected) with proper agents before you venture in!
5. Do not start your CAR which is flood-struck(Tow it after proper authorized person inspection)
6. Wash your legs every time you come back to your house!
7. Look for reptiles around your house(especially your shoes)!
