The Senate Chamber will host the installation ceremony of Louise Arbour as Canada’s 31st governor general on June 8 at 10 a.m. ET.

During an installation ceremony, the governor general designate officially becomes the Governor General of Canada. It’s the most important state ceremony within Canada’s constitutional and ceremonial framework.
The Senate Chamber is where the King or his representative, the governor general, addresses the assembled members of both houses of Parliament.
