불꽃축제 현장 바로 앞에는 멸종위기종 등 매년 1만여 마리의 새가 찾는 밤섬이 있습니다.
축제 때 발사되는 10만여 발의 폭죽은 100~130dB에 달합니다. 일상적인 청소기(70dB) 소음과 비교하면, 단 한 번 노출로도 영구 난청이 올 수 있는 극심한 폭음입니다.
이로 인해 새들은 극심한 공포, 건물 충돌, 서식지 이탈을 겪습니다. 최근 송도 불꽃축제 후엔 얼굴이 그을리고 뇌진탕을 입은 멸종위기 저어새 사체가 발견되기도 했습니다.
수질·토양 오염 문제도 심각한 만큼, 드론 쇼 전환 등 생태계를 고려한 개선이 필요한 시점입니다.
