Let me expand on my reasoning. Apart from the very first administration in 1966, no other administration has had multiple crisis like this one.
Let’s think about the following:
1. From Rre Masire onwards no administration started on depleted reserves.
2. HIV was a major crisis but on its own, maybe droughts here & there. Economy was thriving though.
3. 2008/2009 financial crisis was also a crisis on its own. Do you know Debswana mines even closed then, but we had the finances to carry us.
4. COVID-19 also on its own found this country with the financial resources that we all cry about how misused those funds were.
5. Energy & water crisis came when Diamonds were selling.

LETS FOCUS ON THE NOW
1. The current Diamond slump is the greatest this industry has ever seen.
2. We have nothing in our coffers.
3. We have the highest unemployment rate since independence.
4. We are reeling from the most rampant corruption era.
5. No administration since Rre Masire has ever started on such dilapidated Health, Education & Road networks infrastructure.
6. No administration has ever faced Foot & Mouth threat from along the border right from Molopo all the way to Kasane(entire South & Eastern border). It was just a matter of time with disease control fences neglected from the day Rre Masire left office.
7. No administration has ever faced such high oil prices.

I will be the first to say the UDC has been underwhelming but the honest truth is they found the bottoms of bottoms. Where I differ with the UDC is on just focusing on basics & having our leaders truly resonate with the realities on the ground & listen to Batswana. The Humble UDC that gave Batswana hope. No need for unrealistic promises!!!!!
It’s okay to criticize the UDC but let’s be objective.
