The exclamation mark (!) represents the alveolar click in Khoisan languages, making it a powerful reclamation of his San and Griqua heritage long before indigenous rights gained mainstream political traction in South Africa.

Last year, Sekgodiso made history by becoming the first South African woman to win an indoor gold medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
