One way to build up confidence is by keeping promises you make to yourself. If you always let yourself down, you’ll start feeling like there’s nothing stable to depend on internally. Confidence boils down to having trust in your own abilities. That’s the antidote to insecurity.
Idk if I want to go to church every Sunday again (and this could change), but there is something powerful about community and rawness before God. Grateful today to be the friend invited to church who didn’t want to go but went anyway.
I went to church today for the first time in a long time. Tbh I was not ready, but my friend was preaching and I wanted to support her. I was surprised that I 1) did not walk away angrier than I came, and 2) came home with a prayer journal… that I am also not ready for - lol.
@igarglewithfire I agree that it can be more simple. The heart of OP’s request was a cry for compassion toward single women who are often misunderstood and exiled in the Church. Tbh the needs of all parties can be met with an honest reflection about that.
@TheHomemaking Sure, but the issue here is not the boundary. The issue is the assumption of intention without clear and compassionate conversations within the body. People can disagree in more loving ways. That was my point.
People aren't deconstructing because it's "sexy" or because they're looking for excuses to sin.
They are doing it because the Christians they've encountered and the Christianity they've been handed are so unlike Christ.

@vivacubalibre20@AnnaIPrimrose1 There is no mockery here. There is storytelling from someone who has experienced pain, caused likely by people who didn’t intend for it to be that way.
@robertjmonson “You give bad news in the best ways.” Kind of dark I guess 😅, but from a couple of my former 10yo students, it was clear they found safety of some kind with me. Years later, I still tear up thinking about this.
