@SpaceTardi84826@moyscharlie16@soloscher@hayasaka_aryan@natsmocha Well that’s probably because you don’t get kicked in the groin for pleasure with people you love, you’re comparing apples/oranges. Try to think about it rationally, it’s very obviously an extremely complex thing for somebody to process. Totally diff to being dragged down an alley
But a large majority of men who commit acts that meet proper legal definitions of rape Do so an average of 6 times. They use is as a tactic. Which suggests something else completely.
This is...obviously correct?
The elephant in the room with the "Why are women friends with (their) rapists?" conversation is that - speaking as a trained lawyer and former collegiate official - "my rapist" here basically NEVER means "forcible attacker of strangers or unwilling 1st dates."
The term is being used in the campus-feminist, behavior-X-is-over-the-legal-line-in-Utah sense to describe drunken lovers, badgering boyfriends, people who held your head too long at the end, etc. Cads.
In this context, "reclaiming my power" means "made HIM eat it the next time, backed up by the subtle threat of a charge." Women do not seem terrified by their ~consensual club-bathroom lovers because...they are not. Quite obviously, no XX humans are still buddies with ACTUAL knife-wielding sex criminals.
Can’t imagine never connecting with women, tbh, I would feel quite sad about that. But not everyone is meant for having lots of friends, or comes off as”likeable”
This is the normal way. Nobody owes anyone friendship, not everyone gets on, people will like and dislike you and if some find you weird and off putting you’ll eventually find your people.
Railing at “the popular girls” for not accepting you is just bitter and silly.
@BigBackup27@BecomingCritter Data shows that when women are raped within relationships, it can happen often that they don’t immediately cut off their rapists. It’s a complex thing, probably one the reasons so few women report what happened. It’s a similar kind of shame to staying in any abusive relationship
@__gatsbyexe @BecomingCritter Yes they’re v different and produce different responses, the first is like any abusive relationship. Messy, complex, difficult to process for a long time for most women who have been raped. Especially when young, which is the majority of this type of rape. It’s evil, truly.
@HowlingTemplar@BecomingCritter Hmmm I dunno. Data shows that, fairly consistently, 6-15% of men admit to rape and well over half of those are repeat perpetrators. That’s a lot of raping, mostly by men who do it repeatedly on purpose.
What do you mean when you say “regret”?
@BecomingCritter I worked at a rape crisis centre for about four years in my twenties, and there would be so many young women struggling to come to terms with the fact that someone they “loved” actually did that to them. Total headfuck for them. This is all incredibly ugly from these men tbh.
@BecomingCritter I think the reaction of the men posting it kind of makes me wary, they’re obviously being antagonistic. Seems stupid to take them at face value.
Though it’s fact that rape/SA happens often within relationships &when they end, young women can have v complicated responses.
@PresterJohnEsq In fact the whole trope of the “happy go lucky Down syndrome person” is not really true. Idk, maybe if you didn’t even take the time to look that up you shouldn’t sneer at the idea that it’s difficult to actually provide lifelong care for them?
@moyscharlie16@soloscher@hayasaka_aryan@natsmocha This is about young women who were in relationships with men who raped them, and mostly didn’t think they had been raped (mid 90s, thought it had to be knifepoint in an alley). Like half of abusive relationships contain sexual assault. What’s funny about it?
@DameronGonzalez@soloscher@hayasaka_aryan@natsmocha Wait, why would you “blame” a woman for not blocking someone? Surely it makes sense that different women handle different situations differently? This doesn’t make sense lol
@hayasaka_aryan@natsmocha I think it’s just something none of us really recognise, from all the women we know. Maybe you guys could post some screenshots etc to more fully explain what happened to you? I don’t think I’ve seen an actual story from a man that makes any sense yet!
