I actually really liked her until the much much latter half of EP 3 where I just had enough of her laugh and catchphrase but it elevated Eva as a whole for me at least because I get how it is like to be treated like less by men in your family while they pretend they don't do that

as for bern, I'm not a huge fan of these two witches just showing up and talking extremely cryptic things

to me it cuts away from the story too much with overly strange talks I'm not particularly interested in outside of narrative
