As many of you now may be aware, Dr. Chris Fletcher recently passed away. His contributions to the field of ST pathology (and my career) are immeasurable. Interestingly, once I decided in 1993 to develop expertise in #BSTpath, my question was where (or with whom) would I train?

Sarcina ventriculi. Seen in GI biopsies with hx of gastroparesis and ulcers. Significance still being investigated. Important to recognize.

May 28th, Dr. Rafael Fernandez presented "Immunological and Inflammatory Markers in COVID-19 Infection” on the Immunology, Treatment and Diagnostic Methods for COVID-19 Webinar, organized by the School of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy of the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala.
Yesterday's case, despite being in the appendix, is the best histologic example I've seen of cribriform comedo-type carcinoma. This was an official subtype of colorectal carcinoma in the WHO 2010 blue book but removed in the WHO 2019 blue book. #pathology#gipath
