For about a decade I have thought NATO was irrelevant, if anything a potential precursor to WWIII similar to treaties prior to WWI. NATO was created as a hedge against the USSR during the Cold War. We won. Russia isn't the USSR but contrary to agreements, the US treated it so to all's detriment. Egos run amok.
