BREAKING: YES! A federal judge TOSSES OUT the Justice Department's "blatantly unlawful and unethical" grand jury subpoenas against Governor Tim Walz and other Minnesota Democrats in a scathing ruling.
This is deeply embarrassing for Trump...
"Initiating a criminal investigation in order to harass political opponents or to coerce them into taking official action — particularly official action that the federal government cannot directly require those political opponents to take — is a blatantly unlawful and unethical use the grand-jury process,” wrote U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz.
In addition to Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey had been targeted for daring to stand up to Trump's brutal ICE crackdowns in his city. St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her and commissioners in Ramsey and Hennepin counties were also caught in the net.
Judge Schiltz wrote that there is "no doubt" that the Trump-controlled DOJ issued the subpoenas in order to "harass" the President's political enemies so that they might cave and begin supporting his immigration agenda.
“And, of course, this campaign played out against the backdrop of the Trump administration’s well-established history of using criminal investigations to retaliate against and pressure the President’s political and personal adversaries,” added Schiltz, who was appointed by George W. Bush.
The judge is, of course, absolutely right. Trump has weaponized the Justice Department in broad daylight, making no effort hide his corruption of what was once a nonpartisan institution into an apparatus for partisan vengeance. Hell, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is his former personal attorney.
Judge Schiltz pointed to Trump's constant attacks and threats of "retribution" against Walz as proof "beyond reasonable dispute” that the subpoenas “were a part of a broader campaign to coerce state and local officials in Minnesota to assist the Trump administration in its enforcement of immigration laws.”
Once again, we see the courts serving as our last remaining guardrail against all-out MAGA fascism. This judge deserves our thanks and we must urge other courts to follow his lead!
Please ❤️ and share to thank the judge!
Lauren Edwards MP is urging the House of Lords to finish its job on the assisted dying bill.
She emphasised that the "anti-democratic" way the bill was blocked by the Upper House motivated her to return it, so that "people can continue to have faith in our democratic system".
BREAKING: The assisted dying bill is back.
Today Lauren Edwards MP officially returned the bill to the House of Commons and confirmed the date of the Second Reading vote will be 11 September.
This is a huge moment for dying people and the nation that stands behind them, believing they should have choice.

Today, Lauren Edwards MP confirmed the new co-sponsors of the assisted dying bill.
The cross-party group of MPs behind this reform shows the exceptional range of knowledge held by key supporters of the bill, with expertise spanning medicine, law, and disabled people’s and women’s safety. Among them:
“We owe it to all those terminally ill people and their families...And I believe it undermines public trust in our democracy more widely if we cannot deliver on a measure that is supported by a very large majority of voters in all parts of the country."
MPs were unequivocal in Monday's debate: the assisted dying bill was deliberately blocked in the Lords.
Your MP needs to see this - tag yours below and show them what this means for dying people.
It's time to bring back the bill.
Just weeks before he died, Nathaniel began the formal process of starting a Government petition to fight back against the now well-documented filibuster in the House of Lords. He died just days before the petition was published.
This is what democracy looks like.
From doorsteps to demonstrations, from Durham to Dover, the public has spoken - it's time for dignity and choice.
Over the last 5 months, 114,000 people signed a petition holding Parliament to account for allowing a bill with public and MP support to be undemocratically delayed. Today, Parliament responded.
This is Keith.
Keith has two incurable lung diseases - pulmonary fibrosis and small cell cancer.
He has one simple ask. Choice at the end of life.
Call on your MP to back the return of the assisted dying bill.
