Major life update, dear X mutuals!
My husband and I are expecting!
Very blessed and excited that baby girl will be joining us in Sept! 🎀💕👶🏻

I know some people post on here the second they get a positive test but we waited awhile to announce as this is our second — we have one in heaven after a miscarriage last fall during the early second trimester, and that was really hard. This doesn’t replace the child we lost, but we are still incredibly excited for this baby and feel very blessed to be parents.
At the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast this morning, a handful of nice boomer men were playing live music on guitars — but it was like all Catholic funeral music and Marty Haugen-esque church tunes, “Be Not Afraid,” “On Eagles Wings” 🤔🧐

Fun fact — cake boss’s daughter had their wedding reception as the same wedding venue in Jersey as us. (but is I ASSUME bc he’s the cake boss the cakes came from CakeBoss not from the bakery we used)
North Jersey really is a small world 😂
Almost every cannoli in my life has been a soggy disappointment.
Not these!
Patriotic Friday treats for the West Wing.
Thank you @CakeBossBuddy!

One phenomenon we're all watching unfold isn't simply Europeans discovering/enjoying America for the first time b/c of the World Cup, but the effect it's having in reminding Americans themselves of our love of country by seeing it through their eyes.
And if you think that this incredibly valuable phenomenon, which greatly benefits this particular moment in time (occurring simultaneously with our 250th celebration), is just another massive case of happenstance, and that we lucked out in 2018 when the tournament was awarded to us, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale that you absolutely have to see.
It’s been fascinating to watch Europeans run around America while here for the World Cup.
They’re eating Texas barbecue, and touring state parks, like it’s a lifelong dream.
And we take it all for granted.
Americans spend so much time arguing with each other, that we forget how inspiring this country is.
Probably by design.
Let me explain why I think Freddy resonates.
Lots of Europeans visit the USA as tourists. They visit New York City, or Washington DC, or Hollywood, or Las Vegas, and if they visit natural beauty too, they go to really crowded places like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone.
So while they see our cultural and natural icons, they are mostly in blue cities and they therefore also see the decline, the homeless, the drugs, the dirt and the rude, rude Americans.
But Freddy is not doing that. Freddy is driving, and he’s doing it through the heartland, where people are kind and polite, the skies are wide open, and the bounty of Buc-ees and Bass Pro Shops are overwhelming.
Freddy is not seeing fentanyl and decline.
He is seeing the real, hopeful, patriotic, kind America that European tourists rarely traverse.
And he loves it.
That’s why Freddy is a phenomenon.
