You should study what makes you defensive. The topic you avoid, the joke that irritates you, the question that feels insulting, the feedback you instantly reject. Defensiveness is usually the guard dog sitting in front of a weakness you have not trained yourself to face.
Major cheat code for life: Become difficult to rush. The world will pressure you to rush into everything. Rushed decisions. Rushed conversations. Rushed relationships. Rushed timelines. There's immense power in rejecting that trend. Slow down. Create space to think clearly.
To be clear: optimize for yourself consciously โ not in any Machiavellian way, no matter how tempting the slights make it. You can still be kind, generous, and decent. yeah at the end of the day, everyone is always gonna optimize for their best interests first, whether deliberately or not,
so it's time to optimize for your own;
that is how you reduce any unncessary unrequited effort that can breed pointless resentment.

but sure, job prospects for new grads+ nonsenior devs are harder;
but doesn't mean you should entirely forgo technical majors just cause well being a dev '26 is wildly diff from say 2018?, adopt!
