The reason Tarrifs are such a big deal in a nutshell:
Heretofore & for many decades, other countries have imposed HUGE "import taxes" on all American goods which made selling our products to any other country very small & unprofitable while at the same time, prior admins imposed NO "import taxes" on goods coming into our country. This meant that American manufacturers/workers were not benefitting from intntl TRADE" while other Countries were benefitting & got rich by selling their products in the US to American consumers . Trump's threat to impose reciprocal tax [on imported goods] was enough to make many & soon ALL countries REMOVE the import tax on American goods. This will open up YUGE export markets which will benefit US manufacturers, workers & create more jobs etc.
