@Texas_Bird_Dog@piper4missouri You’re suggesting that there are unskilled jobs that are so unworthy that people working them full time shouldn’t be able to live on what they earn? Is that it? What elitist BS. Every person who works hard should be appreciated in society. They deserve respect and a livable wage.
@co_founder_life @piper4missouri That’s a tired old refrain and I’d be surprised if you could back that up with actual studies. Automation has probably replaced more higher paid (and union) jobs than minimum wage jobs. Automation is adopted any time it’s convenient/cheaper, regardless of wage level.
@piper4missouri Also wonder why they think the labor of students shouldn’t be valued. The work being done is the same whether a parent of four or a student of biology is doing it. And yes, those working full time should always be able to live on what they earn. Not sure why that’s controversial.
@Luisa97209 @CalltoActivism …too smart to destroy themselves! We’ll find solutions! He just said: I hope so (clearly not convinced).
He was so right! The oil corps spent millions in the 80-90s to sow doubt about the science. That effect still lingers. But I wonder if we’d have reacted in time anyway.
@Luisa97209 @CalltoActivism When I was in 7th or 8th grade (late 70’s) a biology teacher told us about global warming (it wasn’t controversial back then - everyone accepted the science). He said he worried that we’d wait too long to react and destroy the earth. I thought he was nuts. I said, humans are…
Can't believe we have to say this, but: STOP FLYING DRONES NEAR WILDFIRES. DRONES GROUND OUR AIRCRAFT.
Our firefighting operations are more important than those 12 likes you'll get on Instagram.
We’ve recently learned:
• Hunter received money from China (contradicting President Biden’s claim)
• President Biden spoke with Hunter’s business associates over 20 times (contradicting what Biden previously claimed)
• Biden’s DOJ tried to secretly give Hunter broad immunity and admitted the sweetheart deal was unprecedented
And just yesterday a new poll showed President Trump is without a doubt Biden’s leading political opponent.
Everyone in America could see what was going to come next: DOJ’s attempt to distract from the news and attack the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, President Trump.
House Republicans will continue to uncover the truth about Biden Inc. and the two-tiered system of justice.
@PicturesFoIder @fuckcancer56 I was like eight. Saw it on the big screen (parents somehow thought this was a great family film 🥹). Was scared to take a bath for weeks afterwards. 😬
I’m quite used to the cruelty students can face when they apply for a US visa but this one broke me. We offered admission to a stellar, talented & hardworking student. After months of work and hundreds of dollars, an embassy officer saw him for 5 mins & said no. why? …
Florida wants to teach about "skills" slaves obtained in the antebellum south because "beneficent" slaveholders taught their slaves to read, write, blacksmithing, etc. They say this is supported by "scholars." Well, let's see what the scholars really say.../1
Actually: It has become a disturbing feature of some recent opinions to go beyond the proper role of the judiciary.
Worse still: Those decisions tend to benefit the right-wing groups and creepy billionaires who put those justices on the Court. Like, pretty much every time.

@lmedf1 @KCDavisSays I think we’ve lost track of this. It’s a good idea (if you can afford it) to pay people who are experts to do things we *might* be able to do on our own, because they’ll do it better and faster and clean up afterwards. Respect their expertise!
