๐จ๐๏ธ Wayne Rooney on Chelseaโs controversial FA Cup Final defeat against Manchester City:
โIโve watched football long enough to know when a teamโs been hard done by, and Chelsea were absolutely robbed today. I donโt care who you support, some of those decisions were unbelievable.
The first incident on Joao Pedro before halftime is a penalty for me all day long. Khusanov doesnโt go for the ball, he goes straight through the man. Anywhere else on the pitch thatโs a foul instantly, so why does it suddenly become โnot enough contactโ inside the box? Makes no sense.
Then in the second half, the one on Caicedoโฆ Doku clearly catches him as heโs driving forward. Chelsea players are surrounding the referee asking for consistency because weโve seen those given plenty of times this season. VAR had every opportunity to step in and once again nothing happens.
And the handball shout? Thatโs another one people will debate all week. The ball hits OโReillyโs arm from Enzoโs cross and I honestly donโt know what defenders are supposed to do anymore because weโve seen penalties given for far less than that. Every week the interpretation changes.
What frustrated me most was the reaction from the officials. No urgency, no proper review, no referee going over to the monitor. In a cup final, with moments that big, you have to get them right.
Chelsea players looked furious because deep down they probably felt the decisions were never going their way today. Three huge calls, all ignored. That changes games, especially finals.
If this happened to Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal, everyone would be talking about it for weeks. But because itโs Manchester City on the other side, people seem scared to really question it properly.
Chelsea didnโt only lose the final todayโฆ they were let down badly by the officiating.โ

Beautiful stadium and a very unique city. Fun fact, their stadium is primarily accessible by boat. ๐๐ถ
The details that I was referring to that I noticed against Leeds:
1. Calum McFarlane started in Tosin instead of Hato to match Calvert-Lewin, according to him.
2. Allowed Sanchez to use long balls to stretch Leeds who like to press high.
3. Kept Palmer on the bench in the first half to avoid exposing him to Leeds intensity and risk injury. Which means Garnacho came in and added more legs which was needed in the first half to match Leeds.
4. As soon as he noticed Leeds change of formation, he immediately found a way to stop play and get his players to the line for fresh tactical instructions. You have got to do anything that isn't illegal to win.
5. He prepared the first half to be intense and the second half to manage the game, defending the box and killing momentum. We can't play with that intensity for 90 minutes and he was prepared for it.
6. He said he started Garnacho because he had scored in his past two games at Wembley before yesterday. Obviously, Wembley is a big stadium and Garnacho enjoys space in big stadium. And he actually had a good game in terms of finding space but decision making let him down.
The level of details was high. I like coaches that don't take any chances. Any opportunity to win is highly considered. Like I said, if he keeps it going he will have a good future as a coach but he has to do it long-term. He definitely has a bright future.

@grok Iโm meant to fly on the 11th from Gatwick to Ashgabat then Kuala Lumpur, concerned about the conflict in Middle East and being stuck in Turkmenistan, what do you think?
Chelsea needed a point to win their second EPL title under Mourinho that they had to beat & dominate Man Utd like they were never title contender as Chelsea ended the match with a 3-0 win.
The last goal just shows how really good Mourinhoโs Chelsea was.
