In order to “see the unseen” it helps to know specifics of what you’re looking for. We’ve practiced field work, we’ve practiced making observations but what do we look for when we’re out stargazing? How about the phases of the moon? #makeitreal #rvsed
We’ve been studying about how Hiawatha helped bring peace to the Iroquois tribes. The tribes came together & buried their weapons under a white pine tree to show their commitment to peace. We reflected about what keeps us from peace. #ancientwisdom #remember #rvsed

Yesterday we shared our stories of how we’ve been impacted by cancer. For me, each year the meaning of the #terryfoxrun gets deeper with more ppl & loved ones impacted by cancer. My sticker of who I’m running for is not big enough to fit the names but #weruntogether #rvsed
Welcome to a new year! This year I am teaching the 6.2 class and our theme is “See the Unseen”. The hope is that students will open their hearts & minds to things they never noticed or considered before.. and that we will all be challenged to respond #rvsed
New trails OPEN on the Sunset ridge. It has been over a year! We can once again access nature & a beautiful view mere steps from our schoolyard! There is a type of grief that comes with the changes but on the positive side, the newly gravelled trails are more accessible #RVSed
This is what play looks like with our middle schoolers. Our Ss get a full 50 min of CTF option’s EVERY DAY. We play with real tools. We learn by doing. We design our own projects. We make mistakes. We learn. We build creative confidence. #thereistimeforthisdepthoflearning #RVSed
What if the secret to literacy excellence was right under our noses? What if it was built on a culture of regular shared learning - vertical relationships across the grades? What if we saw our learners as partners in literacy development? #buddytime #thisishowwelearn #RVSed
Rocky View Schools was not included in the school projects approved for funding in 2023. Our schools are crowded. We need to build schools now!
How will kids learn when their classes sizes are huge & their classrooms are in spaces meant for libraries or break out space?
The best tweak to our “fractions in the kitchen” lesson was adding an extra day where students made number lines out of ALL the measuring tools and then we practiced relays converting improper to mixed fractions with WATER- this made making mistakes way less high stakes! #RVSed

Crokicurl, Skating & Science trip to Bowness park last week! Phone the UofC’s outdoor center & ask for Brett- he’ll open the skating rentals just for your school! We had the park to ourselves, inspired life long sport and inquiry! #thisishow #rsved
