🚨 Update on the Kansas City serial shootings case:

Frederick Demond Scott stands accused of murdering six white victims in a series of shootings along the Indian Creek Trail between 2016 and 2017. The victims — five middle-aged men and one woman — were all white, with authorities reporting no other clear motive.

Court records show that in 2014, Scott had reportedly threatened to kill white people.

Despite this prior statement and the apparent racial pattern in the attacks, prosecutors have not pursued hate crime enhancements and have not publicly attributed a racial motive to the killings.

Scott was arrested in 2017.

The case has been significantly delayed by repeated mental competency evaluations. A judge recently deemed him competent to stand trial, with jury selection now scheduled for August 31, 2026.

The victims’ families have waited nearly nine years for the case to reach a jury.
