šØWOW!!!
An 18-year-old saw an 80-year-old man with a walker crossing a busy Arizona road in shoes that were FALLING APART...
...so he pulled over, took the shoes OFF HIS OWN FEET, and gave them to him!!!
He found out the man had just lost his wife, bought him dinner, sat with him for hours, invited him to church, raised him $10,000 and now they talk on the phone EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!
āI just felt like God told me to go over there.ā
His name is Jordan Hope.
Heās a recent high school graduate from Maricopa, Arizona who runs his own computer-building business.
He was on his way to the bank to deposit some money when he drove past a Walgreens on John Wayne Parkway.
Then he saw the manās feet.
āHis shoes were like maybe a fourth on his foot.ā
So Jordan pulled over, got out, and took off his own size 13 Nike slides and he handed them over and stood there in the road in his socks.
āI just felt like God told me to go over there.ā
He had NO IDEA a woman named Yareli Madrid was filming the whole thing from the parking lot.
He drove off, but something told him to turn back.
He found the man inside the Walgreens, helped him pick up his prescription, and bought him his favorite candy.
Peanut M&Ms.
Jordan took time to speak to the man and thatās when Jordan learned the manās wife had passed away just TWO WEEKS earlier.
āThat honestly broke my heart.ā
The older man's name is Roy, heās 80 years old.
Jordan offered to take him to lunch at Culverās, but a medical condition makes Royās legs swell so badly he couldnāt get into Jordanās car.
So Jordan called him a rideshare and met him at the restaurant, they picked up the food, followed him ALL THE WAY HOME.
...and then he stayed, just to talk.
āSo he didnāt feel that loneliness, you know?ā
Someone posted the video trying to find out who this young man was, with a message for his parents:
āIf this is your son, you did something right.ā
Now Jordan calls Roy EVERY SINGLE DAY to check on him and a GoFundMe for Mr. Roy has already raised over $10,000+ for groceries and expenses.
The two of them are even talking about going to church together. ā¤ļø
Jordan says this wasnāt his plan, he says God āinterrupted my plans for that day to carry on his plans.ā
Heās EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD.
GOD BLESS Jordan Hope, and GOD BLESS Mr. Roy.
THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!! šŗšøšŗšøšŗšø
Tonight Garrett Mitchell reached over the wall in center field and took a home run away from the San Diego Padres.
He did it with an insulin pump in his back left pocket.
He fell to the 14th round out of high school because of what is in that pocket.
Start in the third grade.
He told his mother he did not feel well. He was going to the bathroom about once an hour and his stomach hurt.
Shannon Van Dyke had her son's blood sugar tested. A healthy number is around 80. The meter would not give her a number at all. It just read HIGH. The real figure was over 600.
"I remember my heart dropping, being afraid, and not knowing what to do or what our future looked like."
He got the pump at 10. She began setting an alarm for 2 or 3 in the morning to test him while he slept. She has said those years felt like having a newborn.
He kept playing. He carried a bag everywhere with snacks, insulin and sugar in it.
By his senior season at Orange Lutheran High School in California he was one of the best young outfielders in the country, and scouts had him going somewhere in the first three rounds.
He went in the 14th. The Oakland Athletics took him.
His coach at UCLA, John Savage, said the diabetes hurt his draft value. There were, in his words, lingering questions about it.
His agent Scott Boras later put a number on what it cost. Without the condition, Boras said, Mitchell could have been a top 5 pick.
So he turned the Athletics down and went to UCLA instead.
In three seasons there he hit .327. He hit 15 triples, second most in the history of that program, and his 12 in 2019 set a UCLA record and led all of college baseball.
In June of 2020 the Milwaukee Brewers took him 20th overall in the first round. He signed for $3,242,900.
"My hands were shaking."
Now here is the part that tells you what this actually costs him.
On September 13 of this year, Milwaukee took him out of a game in the middle of the afternoon. He was not injured.
"We took him out precautionary. He had high blood sugar."
His manager Pat Murphy added that it happens a lot going from a night game to a day game, and that the team keeps working on it.
That was three and a half weeks ago.
Tonight he robbed a home run in a game San Diego had to win, and Milwaukee is going to the National League Championship Series.
His mother once described the pump like this.
"You will notice it in his back left pocket. It never leaves his body, even when he's playing."
šØ#BREAKING: An employee for Flock told a reporter that if he wants privacy, he can "opt out of society."
So that reporter filmed a Flock worker installing a Flock cam on a public road next to his house...
...so Flock called 3 POLICE OFFICERS to pull over THE REPORTER for following them
Yep, you read that right... the surveillance camera company called the cops because someone was surveilling them install surveillance.
The reporter's name is Brendan Keefe.
He's a national investigative reporter who has been digging into Flock and police abuse of its surveillance network since January.
Flock happened to be upgrading a camera about a mile from Keefe's own house, so he parked at a distance, put out his press placard, put on a yellow vest, and pulled out a news camera.
The Flock installer saw him, packed up his ladder, jumped in his vehicle, and took off.
Keefe followed several cars back to document the next installation.
The Flock employee picked up the phone and called 911.
"I work with Flock Safety, and I'm getting followed, harassed pretty much, taking videos and pictures."
Next thing Brenden sees are THREE Georgia police cars with their lights on behind him.
"The reason why I'm stopping you is because there is a vehicle that says that you have been following them."
He was released with no charges.
Because he did nothing wrong.
Filming in public is legal in all 50 states.
Your can of pumpkin puree is squash. Libby's grows and cans a tan, oblong variety from the butternut family and labels it 100% pure pumpkin.
That's legal, and FDA has said so in writing since 1938. Their compliance guide tells canners the agency will not take action against the word pumpkin on anything made from golden fleshed, sweet squash. Pumpkin has no real botanical definition and it's a word for certain types of squash.
The variety is called Dickinson, the same species as butternut, and Libby's grows it by the thousands of acres around its cannery in Morton, Illinois.
Libby's makes about 85% of the canned pumpkin in the country and doesn't hide any of this. Nestle's own harvest release names the variety and says outright that pumpkin is a form of squash.

One of the craziest endings to an NFL game
Packers kicker Chester Marcol ā who later admitted he was high on cocaine ā collects his own blocked FG attempt and scampers 25 yards for a TD, lifting Green Bay to a 12-6 opening day OT win over Chicago at Lambeau.
This is very personal for me to share.
My biological mother was a stripper working at a club in downtown Seattle. My biological father was one of her clients. She became pregnant with me while struggling with addiction and used drugs throughout her pregnancy. When I was born, I was immediately taken to the ICU to detox and was eventually placed for adoption.
By Godās grace, I was adopted by two wonderful parents who loved me deeply. I was four months old when they picked me up from the orphanage, and they are the only parents Iāve ever known. I never grew up feeling like something was missing. I never felt some deep longing to find my biological parents. I had a mom and dad who loved me, cared for me, sacrificed for me, and gave me a wonderful home.
Years later, after I got married and we had our first child, my wife encouraged me to learn more about my biological history. If for no other reason, she thought it might be good for the sake of our daughter to know whether there was anything medically or genetically significant in my family history.
So I eventually submitted my DNA to Ancestry. Through that, I discovered a half brother, aunts, cousins, and eventually was put in contact with my biological mother.
We were able to meet.
And when I met her, I got to tell her something Iād wanted to tell her for as long as I could remember: thank you.
Thank you for giving me life.
I got to tell her about the wonderful parents who adopted me. I got to tell her that Iād had a good life. I got to tell her about my wife and my children. I wanted her to know that the baby she carried in the middle of all that chaos became a man with a family, a calling, people he loves, people who love him, and a life for which he is profoundly grateful.
Iāve never been angry with her. Never. Not once.
For years I told my wife and children that if my biological mother ever found me, I knew exactly what I would say. I wouldnāt condemn her. I wouldnāt demand explanations. Iād simply thank her for allowing me to live.
Because without that decision, I wouldnāt have the extraordinary wife I have today. I wouldnāt know the indescribable joy of my children. I wouldnāt have experienced the friendships, ministry, laughter, sorrow, beauty, failures, victories, and ordinary moments that have made up my life. There are people I love who wouldnāt know me, children who wouldnāt exist, and a story that never wouldāve been written.
She gave me the chance to live it.
We still stay in contact. We speak every few months, and I genuinely enjoy hearing her stories and learning about her life. Since the day I met her, Iāve prayed that the Lord would bring her to Himself. I still pray that.
I share all of this because lately Iāve been thinking a great deal about the choices parents make. About life and death. About how much hangs in the balance of decisions made in moments of fear, desperation, darkness, or confusion.
And yes, Iāve been thinking about those three little children whose lives were taken by the very person entrusted with protecting them. Itās difficult for me not to think about my own story alongside theirs. Their lives mattered. Their futures mattered. Everything they mightāve become, everyone they mightāve loved, every ordinary Tuesday morning and Christmas morning and wedding and child and friendship that mightāve filled the decades ahead of them mattered.
And it makes me profoundly grateful that my mother chose differently.
So if thereās a mother or father reading this whoās in a dark place and wondering whether your presence matters, whether your decisions matter, or whether the people who depend on you would somehow be better off without you, please hear me: your choices matter more than you can see from where youāre standing.
Choose life.
Donāt make an irreversible decision in the middle of a season that will pass. Donāt allow a moment of darkness to make a permanent decision about a future you canāt yet see.
Trust the Lord. Ask for help.
When Dolly Parton approached Robert Plant for permission to record her version of āStairway to Heaven,ā she reportedly worried about how he would react. Instead, Plantās response was wonderfully simple: āOf course you can, youāre Dolly Parton.ā
And somehow, that feels like the perfect answer. Dolly didnāt try to copy Led Zeppelin ā she took one of rockās most iconic songs and made it unmistakably her own, adding a touch of country, gospel, and her unmistakable voice.
Sometimes, a legend recognizing another legend is all the permission you need.

Archaeologists discovered a 6,500-year-old structure aligned with the sun and moon, proving that people living 1,000 years before Stonehenge may have understood the universe better than we understand social media.
A mother coyote chased a bear away from a Los Angeles home, making her the most competent security system in California.
And Dolly Parton died at 80.
The woman who came from nothing, wrote songs the entire world knew, gave millions of children free books and somehow managed to become famous without becoming unbearable is gone.
That was one day on Earth.
See you tomorrow. If the man with the guillotine doesnāt get appointed to Congress first. š
California has officially signed the āStop Nick Shirley Actā (AB 2624) into law. This bill was created only after I exposed widespread fraud in immigrant communities across America, specifically in Californiaās Medicaid, nonprofits and other welfare programs funded by our tax dollars.
These politicians need the fraud to continue and they sadly use immigrants to do so often. They fund nonprofits and NGOs with hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars every year for immigration services, including free healthcare and have now made āimmigration support service providersā essentially a protected class in California.
For example, if I film a hospice or a ālearing centerā with no patients receiving millions through Medicaid and the owner gives me a paper saying I cannot publish the video, I cannot publish it. If I publish it to expose them and they claim it caused them āfearā or a third party threatens them, I face a minimum $4,000 civil fine plus the legal fees of the individual or group suing me.
This bill was created by the Attorney Generalās wife and co-sponsored by CHIRLA, a nonprofit that has received over $80,000,000 in taxpayer dollars for āimmigrant support services.ā Do you understand how this works yet? When the fraud is exposed, they create new laws to protect the fraudsters and penalize those who expose it.
By signing this bill, the Governor and California politicians expose themselves as the corrupt politicians they are. This is not the end, the fight has just begun. More to come soon, this is far from over.
Researchers at Fred Hutchinson examined the brains of 59 women after death. In 63 percent of them they found male DNA, almost certainly left behind by a son. The oldest of those women was 94, and the cells were still sitting there.
Around week four or five of pregnancy, before most women have told anyone, a handful of the baby's cells cross into the mother's bloodstream. Some of them never leave. Scientists call it microchimerism, meaning you are carrying a few of another person's cells inside you. Doctors at Leiden University in the Netherlands checked organs from women who had recently been pregnant and found the baby's cells in every single one. Liver, lungs, thyroid, kidneys, bone marrow, skin, heart.
They do not sit idle. When researchers in Ireland biopsied cesarean scars from 70 women, they found the baby's cells living in the skin as ordinary skin cells, making collagen and repair proteins right at the cut. The child helped close the wound its own birth made.
At Mount Sinai, scientists tagged fetal cells with a glowing marker in pregnant mice, then damaged the mothers' hearts. The fetal cells went to the injury. They became heart muscle and the lining of blood vessels. Nobody has proven the human version yet, but doctors have noticed for years that women who develop heart failure around childbirth recover better than almost any other kind of heart failure patient.
In a study of 177 women, fetal cells appeared in the blood of 85 percent of the healthy participants and only 64 percent of the women who had a very early, non-invasive breast cancer. Nobody has worked out yet whether the cells are doing the protecting. The same cells also turn up in Hashimoto's, an immune condition that attacks the thyroid, so this is a gift with complications.
A French team looked at umbilical cord blood in 2021 and found cells belonging to the baby's grandmother in 5 of 28 samples. Cells that crossed one placenta decades earlier had crossed a second one. Three generations of women, alive in a single bloodstream.
Which means the pull a mother feels toward her child has a physical form. It sits in her liver, her heart, and often her brain, and it stays there for the rest of her life.

Mike Rowe reveals Ford has 5,000 unfilled mechanic jobs paying $120,000 a year.
No degree required. AI-proof. And Ford still can't fill them.
ROWE: "Not a week goes by when I donāt get a call from some CEO... elected official... freaking out."
"Theyāve done the math: for every five tradespeople who retire, two come in. Itās been that way for about 12 years now."
āJim Farley (Ford CEO) told me heās got 5,000 empty bays at Ford. These are AI-proof six-figure jobs, right? $120,000 a year. He canāt fill them.ā
In a separation conversation with Shawn Ryan, Rowe said he visited a Texas data center and met three ādebt-freeā electricians under 30 making ānorth of $240,000/year.ā
All three of those electricians have been āpoachedā three times in the last 18 months because the demand for electricians is crazy high.
THE BIG TAKEAWAY: If you're thinking about college but aren't sure what you really wanna do, trade school might be the smarter play.
Chances are, you'll take on a lot less debt, make a lot more money ā and AI won't be coming for your job anytime soon.
Not the way I planned on spending my afternoon, but 7,600 comments should not be ignored! Bots, trolls and personal attacks notwithstanding, the critics of yesterdayās post were dominated by a large and vocal contingent who rushed to remind me that thereās āa difference between socialism and communism,ā an obvious indication that they didnāt actually read the post.
Shelley Armour writes⦠āMike! You know there is a difference between democratic socialism and communism, right?ā
Hi, Shelley. Yes, I know thereās a difference, and I understand what the difference is. The larger point, and the fundamental flaw with your comment, is that you seem to believe the candidates within the Democratic Socialist Party are both ādemocratic and socialist" simply because thatās the name of their club. Well, maybe some of them are. I really couldnāt say. What I can tell you for sure is that more than a few have called for the complete dismantling of capitalism, free markets, representative government, property rights, borders, police, prisons, and the Constitution in general. My post referred to them, as well as a number of elected Democrats who have agreed to campaign on their behalf ā including Gavin Newsom, who said, "The Democratic Party must accept the DSA in order to take back the Congress.ā His words, not mine.
Tracey Steele writesā¦āWow! I cannot believe Mike Rowe said this. He has a huge reach, and he is actually spouting the word ācommunismā like itās the 1950s! Wow Wow Wow!ā
Wow indeed, Tracey, and thanks for noticing the size of my reach! (Contrary to popular belief, size does matter!) To say it again, I am not the one āspoutingā communism or conflating socialists and communists. The word is being āspoutedā by members of the DSA who are using it to describe themselves. I am not accusing them; I am quoting them.
John Engles⦠Hey Rowe, whatās the difference between the Communists who want to run the country and the Nazi/fascist who currently is?
Several differences, John, but the only one relevant to this conversation is the fact that the communists currently running for office have clearly identified themselves as such. They do not dispute or reject the label. They embrace it. It is who they are, who they claim to be, and who they want to be. The president, on the other hand, has never claimed to be a Nazi or a fascist. That doesnāt mean he isn't, but it is worth noting he has rejected the accusation outright. Obviously, you are entitled to that opinion and the right to share it publicly, thanks to our Constitution. Unlike in a fascist, Nazi, or communist regime. (Also worth noting, Nazis and fascists are not the same thing.)
Chris Tomaloff writes⦠āKinda like how the political right didnāt shout down the extreme rhetoric coming from their candidates?ā
No, Chris, not like that at all. In the video I shared, we saw examples of prominent Democrats saying things like, āWe need to elect more communists!ā (Cea Weaver, Director of the NYC Mayorās Office.) Mamdani himself literally tweeted, "Each according to their need, each according to their ability." Thatās a direct quote from the Communist Manifesto.
But what exactly is the corollary from the right? Are prominent Republicans tweeting, āWe need to elect more Nazis! We need to elect more fascists! Eat the poor!ā I donāt think so. John Engles may think Trump is fascist and a Nazi, but Trump disagrees, and so do a majority of voters. Communists, on the other hand, say it loud and say it proud. Iām inclined to take them at their word.
Beto Ojeda⦠āMike has always leaned to the Trumpian view of things but never states it, so as not to alienate anyone, but we know how to read between the lines. This ācommunistā talk is McCarthyism 2.0.ā
I wasnāt around in the 1950s, Beto, but from what Iāve read, it was indeed a very difficult time to be a communist in this country. Lots of private citizens were dragged before Congress, made to take āloyalty oaths," and blacklisted in their places of work. I canāt justify it or condone it, but I can explain it. We had just fought a hot war against fascism and Nazism and just begun a Cold War against a communist regime. The existence of an organized Communist Party in this country at such a time strained the limits of tolerance. But do you really think weāre less tolerant today than we were seventy-five years ago? Do you really believe my comments about communists who claim to be communists are synonymous with another Red Scare? If you havenāt noticed, Chris, no one in the DSA, including the communists, is being dragged before Congress and made to swear a loyalty oath to the Constitution. Today, a communist in America can run for officeā¦with the endorsement of the governor of California! And the tacit approval of a major political party! Seems to me weāre about as far from McCarthyism as we can get.
As for my desire not to alienate anyone, I suppose I am guilty of that. I run a foundation that is open to people of all political beliefs, and weāve assisted lots of Americans who lean to the left. I also know for a fact that many Democrats have supported mikeroweWORKS historically, and I have no desire to run them off. But do you really have to āread between the linesā to understand where Iām coming from?
True, Iāve never endorsed a candidate or publicly encouraged people to vote. But Iāve been very transparent about the fact that Iām a registered Independent who favors policies and programs that often align with conservative principles. Obviously, I would not characterize those conservative principles as āTrumpian,ā because a) they were around long before him, b) Trump is not a conservative, and c) I do not agree with or support everything the President says and does. So, is it possible, Beto, that your accusation is rooted in the fact that I have never publicly denounced the president to your satisfaction? Is it possible you think I'm a Trumper, simply because I've never called him a fascist, or a Nazi, or a liar, or a conman, or a traitor, or whatever else you believe him to be?
Gretchen Seipp⦠Mike, the fact that you still act as though youāre not political after all this time is a bit ridiculous. I still support your work and foundation because I believe in it, but the folksy act has worn thin.
Aw, shucks, Gretchen. Folksy? Lil' ole me?
Honestly, how am I acting as if I am ānot political?ā This entire conversation is the very definition of āpolitical.ā
Christopher Pugh⦠I would have voted for Mike Rowe and Freddie a few years ago before he went full-on MAGA, and Iām all in favor of his project, but itās pretty clear the political direction that heās moved in and the money trail that has influenced it.
Itās Freddy, not Freddie. (I donāt much care, but heās a terrier and particular about such things.) As for the āfull-on MAGAā moniker, is there something I did specifically to earn that designation? Is there some kind of general definition you can share? Or, are you coming from the same place as Beto? Is calling me āFull-On MAGA" your way of saying that Iāve failed to condemn Trump to your satisfaction?
For the record, MRW is supported by liberals and conservatives alike. I have no idea what āmoney trailā you are referring to. Also, regarding my personal politics, think about the implications of what I wrote. I said that the Democrats have been given a gift ā an opportunity to appear reasonable by speaking the truth to their own party, just as Bill Maher has done. All they have to do is distance themselves from candidates who have called for the complete dismantlement of our Constitution. All they have to do is say, āHold on, comrade. Our tent is not that big. We respect your right to hate America, but we donāt want you in our party, and we will not support your candidacy.ā
If they say that, I think a lot of Independents would see them as they see John Fetterman, who has, in the eyes of many voters, become the most ārationalā Democrat currently in office. If they donāt ā if they actually welcome communist candidates into their party ā then Iām afraid the Democrats, by default, will offer the American people a very simple choice in November ā a party that disavows communism vs. a party that doesnāt. I think such a choice would be very positive for Republicans because I donāt think most Americans want to align themselves with a Democratic Party that welcomes communists. The question for you, Chris, is why would a āFull-On MAGAā like me encourage Democrats to act in a way that would disadvantage the Republican Party? And the answer is simple ā itās because I support the existence of a Democratic Party that believes America is still a fundamentally good place.
I think thereās a lot of room for improvement in our country, and I believe the best way to realize those improvements is for Democrats and Republicans to have continuous, robust and public debate about all the issues. But if one of those parties is affirmatively determined to transform our democratic republic into a communist state, then weāre no longer debating the various ways to make our country better; weāre debating the merits of destroying it. And really, whatās the point of tolerating that?
America is already a big tent, filled with hundreds of millions of people with wildly differing views and lots of political parties that represent those views. Weāve got the Green Party, the American Freedom Party, the Socialist Workers Party, the Constitution Party, and of course, the Communist Party USA, as well as the Democratic Socialist Party. Americaās tent is so big, we can even tolerate fringe parties like the KKK, the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and so forth. Why then, does Gavin Newsom want to make room in the Democratic tent for socialists and communists? Thereās only one reason, and heās already spelled it out for us ā he believes the Democrats need them to win back the Congress. I think itās a bad bet for the Democrats and for America. And if a prominent Republican reached out to the KKK with the same ābig tentā offer, youād better believe my vote would be in play.
Michael Tillman⦠When are you going to throw your hat into the ring, Mr. Rowe?
Ha! When it no longer fits my head!
There are slips, and then there are confessions delivered with the casual authority of someone who has never once confused honesty with power.
In 2020, while the rest of the country was still pretending the internet rewarded courage, Candace Owens sat across from another creator and, with a small, amused giggle, articulated the single operating principle that has governed her entire public existence:
if you want to survive here, never tell the truth.
The āhorrible thingā her counterpart had done was not fabrication, not cruelty, not exploitation.
It was the act of speaking plainly and accepting the consequences.
Owens did not wince at the admission.
She canonized it.
She turned it into doctrine.
This is not a stray remark pulled from context. This is primary source evidence...the subject, relaxed and unguarded in what she clearly believed was friendly or inconsequential company, stating the rule she has followed with religious fidelity ever since.
Every subsequent rebrand, every narrative pivot, every accusation leveled at former allies, every claim of victimhood or persecution, every refusal to be bound by the evidentiary record:
all of it flows from the same source code she volunteered on camera.
She told the audience, in her own words, that truth is a liability and deception is the cost of doing business.
Then she spent the next six years proving she meant it.
What you are about to read is not commentary. It is forensic dissection.
We will treat that 21-second exchange as the clinical artifact it is...a linguistic and behavioral specimen that reveals the architecture of malignant narcissism more cleanly than any DSM checklist ever could.
We will examine the neurological reward systems that make successful deception feel like intelligence rather than moral injury.
We will apply the tools of criminal profiling to the patterns of instrumental lying, audience capture, and narrative homicide that have defined her operation.
We will parse the linguistic tells...the reframing of honesty as āhorrible,ā the giggle as affective leakage, the absolute rule stated without hedging once the setup was complete...because in forensic psychology, language is never neutral and laughter is never accidental.
This piece does not exist in isolation.
It is the next cut in an ongoing autopsy.
The same pathology that produces rooftop hallucinations about phantom snipers, that requires the widow of a dead man to be crucified so the martyr narrative can be controlled, that turns every corpse into content and every inconvenient fact into an attack on the self, is the same pathology that looked at truth-telling and named it the enemy of survival.
The 2020 clip is not an outlier. It is the Rosetta Stone.
She gave us the key. She laughed while she handed it over.
Now we use it.

In 1934, at the height of the Great Depression, a 26-year-old artist from upstate New York published a small book about birds. Publisher after publisher had rejected it.
The one that finally said yes, Houghton Mifflin, printed 2,000 copies and worried about selling them during an economic collapse. They sold out in two weeks.
Before Roger Tory Peterson's A Field Guide to the Birds, identifying a wild bird required either a specimen in hand or access to large multi-volume scientific tomes written for researchers, not ordinary birders
What Peterson did was deceptively simple: he illustrated birds the way you actually see them in the field, in natural postures, and added small arrows pointing to the specific visual features that distinguish one species from another.
A flash of wing pattern. A stripe above the eye. The shape of a bill. He called them field marks, and the system let someone standing in their backyard with no scientific training identify what was in the tree in front of them.
The ripple effect of that book is almost impossible to overstate. It created mass birdwatching as a popular activity in America. It changed what millions of people noticed when they went outside. It built the constituency that would eventually fund the conservation movement, lobby for the Endangered Species Act, and sustain organizations like Audubon and Cornell's Lab of Ornithology for decades.
Peterson spent the rest of his life expanding the system, field guides to western birds, European birds, wildflowers, insects, tracks, shells. He died in 1996 at 87, still working. The series he created has sold millions of copies.
The guide in your pack, or on your phone, or on your shelf is the direct descendant of a small rejected book about birds that sold out in two weeks during the worst economic crisis in American history.
LMAO! JD Vance just made the PERFECT analogy on why the Milwaukee Mayor sending him an unsolicited letter DENYING election fraud is VERY suspicious
"You know what it kind of reminds me of? A couple weeks ago, I get home.. and my 6 year old greets me"
"He says, 'daddy, I'm glad you're home. I didn't steal any of the cookies.' I said, 'huh, that's interesting that you volunteered that when I wasn't even talking about that!'
Well, OF COURSE he stole the cookies!"
"So when I hear a guy protesting out of NOWHERE, 'I did not do any election fraud, I did not do any election fraud...'
It makes me wonder: WHY is that guy protesting so aggressively?! It's a little odd!" šÆ
You came to Milwaukee 13 years ago as a kid from Sepolia with an impossible dream. Over the past 13 years we have witnessed you grow into one of the greatest players the game has ever seen, the greatest Buck of all time, and the driving force behind an era of Bucks basketball that will be remembered forever.
From the moment you arrived, you embraced Milwaukee as your home. You embraced the team, the community, and everyone who believed in you. Your connection with Bucks fans transcended basketball. You didnāt just play basketball in Milwaukee, you became the heart and soul of this city. You touched lives throughout our community and inspired people across the world. You believed in this city and its fans when the rest of the world doubted.
After 50 years, you delivered a championship to Milwaukee. A dream come true for generations of Bucks fans who never stopped believing. You gave Milwaukee hope. You taught us that loyalty still matters. That hard work can overcome impossible odds, and that a small-market city could still be on top all because you refused to stop believing. For one night, Milwaukee wasnāt just watching history, we were living it together.
Your legacy in Milwaukee is secured and will always be felt here. In the rafters, throughout the community, in the countless people you inspired, and the way you made an entire city believe that anything was possible.
Thank you for believing in Milwaukee and giving everything you had to this city day in and day out. You transformed the Bucks in every way, and left your mark on this organization for generations to come. Youāll always be family. Youāll always be Milwaukeeās champion. Forever a part of this city. Forever a Buck. Thank you for everything, Giannis.
