@HappierHypno@suzannezeedyk To me the word obey suggests using some form of threat to get compliance, that's never what we should aim for from our children
Theresa May told us in 2020 that mothers who had taken Primodos & had babies born with disabilities had been 'patted on the head and told they were imagining it' https://t.co/kiayJPERat

It’s not even taking sides really because you are already paying for one legal team through your taxes.
“The refusal to flex, to allow school and college leaders the agency to make exceptions to attendance rules for good reason, is, in our view, creating a longer-term attendance problem”YES

Why does it matter how young people think and feel about their learning? Why shouldn’t we just focus on exam results when evaluating education and schools? Here are some of the reasons I have learnt through my work with young people and their families. 1/
/1 Sadly our 12yo autistic CYP was excluded today 😔. The saddest thing is this was because of his autism, & an autistic meltdown. It makes us so sad, angry & frustrated. This tweet is about giving him & other autistic CYPs a voice @NotFineinSchool@_MissingTheMark@naomicfisher
Imagine you're in a job you really don't like. You're bored, you have few choices about what you do, and you don't feel you fit in. Each Friday an 'Employee of the Week' prize is awarded & the pressure is intense. Every night you go home with hours of extra work to complete.1/
Ok. When all the grown-up stuff begins to seem dark & incomprehensible, let’s turn to the babies for some sanity & joy. Here’s a Baby THREAD for you all.
I don’t think I have ever met an autistic child who *wants* to game all day. We talk about this topic in our community, as it is a common belief which young people find really frustrating. So why does it *look* like young people want to game all day?

A Thought Experiment. What would happen to our schools if young people had the right to leave? If they could say, this isn’t for me, and go somewhere else where supportive adults would help them do the things which mattered to them? 1/
The Winners Take All. What would it be like if we were honest with parents about school? We'd say, your children have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enrol in a 12-year competition. At the end, about a third of them will be deemed failures. (with @_MissingTheMark )1/
@gemdeerfield @jshmtn @MichellePyer@MrsSarahOgden @neuroteachers I'm sorry to hear this, I hope you are able to process your experiences and have support you need to do so. Too many people are impacted this way
@jshmtn @Viktoriamac@MrsBrown_SEMH @neuroteachers All behaviour is communication, sometimes the child with the wrong uniform is expressing a level of distress that's hard to imagine
@naomicfisher Yes! I've often thought this and my parents let me start and quit ballet, tap, gym, violin and more I'm sure! This goes right down to telling a child they chose a particular ice cream so it's their fault if they don't like it... Why would they ever risk trying anything new?
