It says a lot about the political culture in the UK that the only person who has faced any consequences for Dominic Cummings' actions is a journalist who pointed them out. https://t.co/azi0sguJYe
@Tom_Randall He drove to be near help *if* he and his partner both got sick. Then drove a car to test his eye sight. Stopped at beauty spot. None of this was justified and some of it was dangerous. Not reasonable.
@DominicRaab He told us that he was worried what would happen to his child if both parents got covid. I think we have all been terrified of that in the last two months but we did not therefore break lock down rules.
Killer fact from that is this.
The Cummings/Wakefield family ended up in a hospital in Durham - 260m from home.
That is precisely the reason the lockdown told people to stay at home if they get sick.
So as not to spread the virus around the country.
@ABridgen I'm very surprised that he thought he was entitled to drive all that way for child care. Sat down to feel sorry for him but am now even more astonished by his behaviour than previously. A very arrogant performance.
The idea that thinking you might become unwell and can’t look after your child is NOT an exceptional circumstance. It’s a circumstance for hundreds and thousands of families. That’s the point. It tough for everyone, but that’s the only way to reduce spread of the virus #Cummings
@peter_aldous I agree thank you for being brave and speaking out. Lots and lots of people were really worried about child care but stayed put. Many without resources and in much more precarious situations than DC!
Lets be very clear on movement across the country:
"Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose is not allowed. This includes visiting second homes."
So here's a Tory MP for Cornwall clarifying the rules on leaving your home to stay elsewhere during lock down. Will she now condemn #cummingsandgoings#CummingsGate
Been getting lots of emails about second homes. Here’s the answer Can people stay in second homes? Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose is not allowed. This includes visiting second homes.
