#ESMO26 PROTEUS discussion by Nicholas van As
• No baseline PSMA PET; enrolled conventionally staged M0
• MFS events: true progression or delayed detection? Most were PSMA PET-detected (8.8% vs 16.3%)
• TTST HR 0.29, but ~20-mo lead-time bias

No doubt in my mind that @myESMO#ESMO26 is now eclipsing @ASCO. An incredible variety of nations represented and massive attendance numbers. Everyone welcomed, unlike in the US now, where many anti-Trump Europeans can’t realistically enter the country.
@faisalislam Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund is by far the most important and demonstrably devastating argument against Thatcherism https://t.co/c1N64Mirqe
#Norway’s Sovereign wealth fund is the dagger to the heart of Thatcherism. She sold off the family silver for a short term boom. Now we are suffering a long-term bust. https://t.co/c1N64Mirqe
@Jeremy_Hunt 2004 wasn’t the time Family Doctors were scrapped
2010 seems to be the moment the decline started
@Jeremy_Hunt you failed because you didn’t invest in GPs
Funding was cut 2014-2024 by 20% per patient, training more but no funding to retain
Then there was funding of ARRS 🤷🏻♂️
NEW
Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund…
As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea.

@BrianMcDonaldIE To be fair, Brian, I just don’t like dictators like Putin. The Russians showed how amazing they were when they hosted the World Cup. A country where citizens fear the state will never produce happy cities or towns. The only happy places are villages in the middle of nowhere
I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain.
Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war.
The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world.
And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing?
That's right, almost nothing.
Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady.
Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive.
Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion.
I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner.
But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."
Heading to #Madrid for #ESMO26

5. I meant “top 4”
Trump’s envoy to Putin. One of the most sickening things I’ve ever seen. Future generations will scarcely believe America fell this low, if it ever recovers.
