Lost my father. Great Clemson man. Bob Mahoney was one of the last to talk to him. One of his last washes was to see the progress at the stadium. Pray for a cure for cancer! 💔
For the record, Karmelo Anthony does NOT have an all white jury. Please stop spreading false information. I have been following this case since the very beginning. I was in the courtroom. I’ve seen his jury face to face.
There really aren’t any rules. You just go to court. If it fails, go to court again until a judge says you’re all set.
Want a 7th year?
Sure
Broke rules?
Ahhhh, it’s fine.
There AREN’T any rules.
sat down with legendary college football coach Dabo Swinney on the latest episode of @NextUpBreneman.
We covered his journey from the University of Alabama to becoming one of the most successful coaches in college football history. We talked about the work ethic that shaped him, the experiences that led him into coaching, and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
We also discussed what still drives him at Clemson Tigers football, why developing young people remains his biggest motivation, and how he’s navigating the new era of NIL and the transfer portal.
This is Dabo Swinney, unfiltered.
The SEC and Big Ten see the Protect College Sports Act as an obstacle.
The rest of us, including the Senators involved, see it for what it really is: an intervention.

BREAKING: Three counties in Texas have declared local state of disaster declarations on the New World Screwworm: Kinney, Jim Webb and Uvalde
Three others are pending: Webb, La Salle and Val Verde
The reasoning behind these declarations is because they feel they are not getting the federal nor state support needed to combat this crisis
Its long past due for the President to declare a National Emergency Declaration so local officials on the front lines are getting the support they need
Sen Chris Coons (D, Del) tells @FOS he thinks there's an appetite to pass the Protect College Sports Act in the Senate even if SEC and Big Ten don't support it. "We need to be willing to risk pushing back on the SEC. They are used to being the big game in town."
What is their value if the fans stop buying the tickets and turn it off! It seems like the fans are the only people not being considered. We fill the stadiums. I agree they need paid but it shouldn’t cost us thousands a year to maintain our tickets and seats.
I've had some time to consider yesterday's Senate hearing on the Protect College Sports Act.
It framed robust #NIL and collective activity as threats to competitive balance and Olympic sports.
But NIL is not the crisis. It's not the culprit of "chaos." It doesn't require anyone to "save college sports."
It is the market correction to decades in which institutions and the NCAA profited from athletes without providing them meaningful compensation.
Any federal legislation must strengthen, not constrain, athlete NIL rights and mobility.
Preempting strong state laws, imposing artificial distinctions between "legitimate" deals and market arrangements, or layering new transfer restrictions cannot and must not be done in the absence of bargaining with athletes.
Athletes built the value. People seem to be missing that point. They believe coaches deserve riches and athletes should be pleased with whatever pittance they're provided. No. Athletes deserve a framework that treats them as the principal stakeholders and not as afterthoughts.
Is dramatic change afoot?
SEC presidents saw multiple future governance models this week. A “mid-summer” decision date looms.
“We start with governing ourselves and not worry what other leagues are doing. I’m not afraid to look at collective bargaining.”

I’d say 65 to 70%of this bill is exactly what’s needed and much credit to @sabanfaux for taking the time to deliver accordingly. The part that’s problematic and will likely upset the @SEC & @bigten is when it comes to enforcement not being theirs, but written into the bill. @SenTedCruz admittedly allowed @SenatorCantwell to write that portion of the bill, and to get the bill thru that was imo a good idea. However we shouldn’t be surprised that the @SEC & @bigten are against that aspect of the bill. Here’s the conundrum tho, if ya want to govern and enforce rules yourself but need the antitrust exemptions to get CFB where it needs to be? Ya gotta give up something? If they get the 60 votes and Cruz believes he can find them, he and his handful of Democrats will give them what’s needed for guard rails, but it’ll mean what @GregSankey always said, “we need congressional help” for years will be another quote that meant very little in the end.
Sen. Ted Cruz mentions the "Lane Kiffin Rule" that's part of the bill, which prevents coaches from leading in-season: "It’s not fair to players if you are heading into the playoffs and your coach leaves and goes to a rival. That’s not fair."
I don't care if you don't like Saban because he had Alabama running the sport for a decade.
I don't care if you think what he's saying is hypocritical.
If you actually believe that $40 million a year for rosters (which is only growing) is actually sustainable, let me know why
College sports are worth saving.
Glad to welcome Coach Nick Saban to the @SenateCommerce Committee as we work to restore order, protect student-athletes, and preserve the opportunities, traditions, and scholarships that make college athletics uniquely American.
Ted Cruz: "To allow federal law failings of Congress to kill off everyone but the SEC and Big Ten - I’m from Texas, I love the SEC and Big Ten, they’re incredible institutions - but I also love all of the rest of institutions that make college sports so fantastic."
Nick Saban mentions the money that schools are "funneling" from multimedia rights partners and sponsors to roster - money that, he says, could be going to fund women and Olympic sports.
Happy to report that two of my amendments to crack down on cruel animal testing advanced out of the @RulesReps last night.
These amendments would stop taxpayer dollars from being used to require testing on dogs through the @US_FDA and prohibit @USDA funding for painful research on dogs and cats. We should be using modern, humane alternatives—not forcing animals to suffer at taxpayers’ expense. I thank my fellow New Yorker @RepLangworthy for his advocacy in the committee and look forward to its consideration by the entire House.
Nick Saban on the Luke Ferrelli tampering saga: “Clemson had a player who was on campus for a whole week, and they (Ole Miss) came and got him off campus and took him someplace else.” Saban is testifying in support of the Protect College Sports Act in the US Senate this morning
