@betterlife_solu @ShadrackGuusu @amengor_jacob Another medical implication is a complaint that come from women using unimproved latrines. They complained that when they squat, water splashes back and they tend to get some infections! This is a very scary scenario

@betterlife_solu @ShadrackGuusu @amengor_jacob Additionally, the life span of sanitation workers is greatly reduced. In the community I am working, they rarely go beyond the age of 45 due to being in constant contact with faecal sludge and inhaling toxic fumes.

@betterlife_solu @ShadrackGuusu @amengor_jacob The medical implications are obviously water borne diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid and cholera. Diarrhoea is the most rampant and is causing a lot of deaths of children under 5 years

@betterlife_solu @ShadrackGuusu @amengor_jacob I have experience in a community I am currently working in. In this community, which is a slum, pit latrines overflow and pours over the immediate environment. When desludging time comes, sanitation workers scoop it out manually.
